Testers praised the ROCCAT Magma for its quiet membrane switches and few macro programmable keys. They were impressed with its RGB backlighting and lauded its ergonomics because it shipped with a detachable wrist rest. However, they were not as pleased with its lack of wireless capabilities and fixed cable. They also didn’t like its mediocre build quality.
The ROCCAT Magma is an entry-level keyboard that was first announced into the market in mid-2021. Like most top-rated keyboards, It comes equipped with a detachable wrist rest for added comfort, and measuring 17.7 by 6.1 inches, the ROCCAT Magma is a full-size keyboard with a total of 104 keys. The keyboard also has a low latency of 6.1ms, which is quite good for ultra-responsive gaming.
If you’re looking for keyboards with even lower latency, our list of the best gaming keyboards might be worth looking into. The Magma also has RGB backlighting to keep its keys visible in a low light setting, but it is slightly different compared to the Redragon K582 since its lighting comes from its plate, while all the keys on the K582 are individually lit – more on that in our Redragon K582 SURARA RGB review.

our Verdict
Product reviewers were delighted with how light the Rubber Dome switches on the ROCCAT Magma were and its customizable deck-based RGB lighting. Testers from PC Mag were quite happy that the Magma had membrane switches since, during their tests, they established that they were quieter than most mechanical keyboards.
They also liked that it shipped with a wrist rest that was detachable. Reviewers from Trusted Reviews were also delighted that they could macro program some of its keys and also remap others through its ROCCAT Swarm Software. The Mountain Everest Max is fully programmable, so if this sounds like something you’d enjoy, go ahead and check out our Mountain Everest Max review.
Still, the Magma also had its share of drawbacks, as testers did not entirely appreciate that it had no wireless capabilities. They also didn’t like that its build quality was not up to par and that its cable was not detachable.
