If you want something special that stands out from the crowd, the Razor Raptor 27 is an excellent choice. It has a more distinguished look compared to other gaming monitors and still delivers superb color accuracy and minimal input lag thanks to its fast response time. Despite being Razor’s first gaming monitor, it can compete with everything on our best gaming monitor for PS4 list. If you’re looking for a monitor that’s a bit smaller, take a look at our HP 2311XI 23 inch IPS display review too.

Why We Like It – Razer Raptor 27

The Razor Raptor is designed to look the best and perform the best. It has everything you could want in a gaming monitor including a quick refresh rate, wide color gamut, and of course, fantastic image quality. Compare this to the slightly less expensive Dell U2717D ultrasharp monitor review to decide which monitor you like best.

Pros
  • 1 m/s response time
  • Freesync and G-Sync compatible
  • The fabric cover has questionable durability
Cons
  • Quite pricey
  • Complicated cable management
  • The fabric cover has questionable durability

Performance

The Razor Raptor can compete with the best gaming displays in terms of performance. The 27-inch 2560 x 1440 IPS panel puts out dci-p3 color, which surpasses the old sRGB for quality. It produces a wide color gamut with a large color space. This screen is compatible with both G-Sync and Freesync for more versatility. It also supports HDR with a peak brightness of 400 Nits. Some of the more common features are the 144 Hz refresh rate and response time of 1 m/s. If you need a higher resolution, the LG 27Uk650-W is a fantastic alternative.

Design

The Razor Raptor has a premium design that stands out compared to most other monitors such as the Asus VG245H. It’s one of the few gaming monitors covered in fabric with aluminum trim. It also has a unique cable management system requiring the provided cables. In terms of ports, it has the usual HDMI port, USB-C, two USB ports, and one Directport. With all these it should work for all foreseeable future usage. The base of this monitor takes up a lot of space, and you might have to sit far to have place for your keyboard.

Value

The price of the Razor Raptor 27 is more expensive than many of its competitors, but it is truly something special. There aren’t many monitors that look so great, especially with the fabric and metal backing. It’s a work of art that deserves an image credit just for showing it, and have its rights reserved so nobody can copy it. Apart from the stellar looks it’s also packed with features to appease even the fussiest gamer. For something more ordinary you can try the Acer R240HY.

Razer Raptor 27 Wrap Up

The Raptor 27 is Razor’s first gaming monitor and can compete with some of the best out there in terms of speed, performance, and picture quality. It also has a unique look and solid build quality. It remains to be seen if the fabric backing can hold up to long term use, but it looks unique and classy. This is a gaming monitor for people who want something different.
