Critics praised the Razer Huntsman Tournament Edition for its ease of customization, high latency, and RGB backlighting. They were glad that they could program all its keys but were displeased with its lack of a wrist rest and missing wireless connectivity. They also admitted that its ultra-high responsiveness might take some time to get used to.

Overview

The Razer Huntsman Tournament Edition is an entry-level gaming keyboard that was first released in late 2019. It is a TenKeyLess keyboard that ships with double-shot PBT keycaps that feel smooth to the touch and only measuring 14.3 by 5.5 inches, it is more compact than some of the best keyboards on the market.

It also has a detachable USB-C cable and offers two incline adjustment levels for good ergonomics. The wired keyboard also has an outstandingly low latency of 1ms. Compare that to our list of the highest-rated gaming keyboards. It also has excellent build quality since its keycaps are made out of PBT material, and it also has customizable RGB backlighting.

our Verdict

The Razer Huntsman Tournament Edition had expert testers praise it for how easy it was to customize and its advanced gaming features. Product reviewers from Tech Radar liked how compact it was. They also liked how easy it was to customize its RGB lighting through the Synapse software and were delighted, during their gaming tests, with how responsive its Razer Linear Optical key switches were.

If the RGB lighting is not something you like, our Razer BlackWidow Lite review might be of interest since it has white backlighting, but if you’re an RGB backlighting enthusiast, then our ROCCAT Vulcan TKL review might be interesting. Testers from Rtings also liked that it had a low typing noise and that all its keys were macro-programmable.

Still, testers were not too happy that it did not ship with a wrist rest and that it had no wireless connectivity. They also felt that its featherlight actuation might lead to many typing errors.
