Power Up Paper Airplane Motor Makes Your Paper Airplane Flight-Ready

At some point in our idle time, we’ve all made, and thrown, a paper airplane. Perhaps we’ve experimented with the aerodynamics to try and get it to nail a coworker in the ear, or at least fly straight. The Power Up, though, will allow you to do so much more.

Paper Power

The Power Up may sound familiar; this is actually the third iteration of the device, and in fact you can still get the second version, as well as the paper boat variant. This is an upgrade… and it’s a pretty interesting upgrade, not least because it adds a lot more control to your paper plane.

Smart Paper

Essentially, the third version adds smartphone controls that let you take even more control of your airplane. Before launching your pulp vehicle, you just sync it with your smartphone, and once it hits the air, it can be steered, giving you even more control of your dive bomb-ah, paper plane.

OK, so it doesn’t necessarily have the greatest range; it’s currently at about 180 feet from your phone before your paper airplane bursts free from your control. Oh, and the battery also lasts ten minutes, but let’s face it, for paper airplanes, that’s more than enough flight time. They’re like remote controlled batarangs in that way. And when it crashes, you’ll be able to strip it for parts; the body is made of carbon fiber and is referred to as “crash proof.”

Fly, My Pretties, Fly

Yes, this is a goofy way to spend your time, but it’s an awesomely goofy way to spend your time. And it’s become a popular way to teach children about motors, flight, and aerodynamics, not to mention spending a lot of time amusing them as they try to get the plane in the air. You can get it on Kickstarter for $30 right now, but move fast; it’s going quick.
