Philips Solar Remote Control (video)

This is Philip’s solar powered remote control and you can’t have one.  Unless of course you live in Europe and have plans to purchase their Econova LED TV, which apparently consumes 40w of power in “eco” mode.

We don’t know if the battery can run purely off solar juice, but since the device demands very little power generally speaking, we don’t see why not.  But hopefully there is a battery option or back up just in case things get gloomy; case in point the UK during the winter months.

The TV uses LED backlighting and features a Zero Power Switch, which means that it won’t suck any power while switched off.
