The Pedego Stretch Electric Cargo Bike is one of the best electric cargo bikes and is available in four gorgeous colors, with an aesthetically pleasing design that goes above and beyond what is typically found with cargo bikes. reviewers loved the powerful 48v lithium-ion battery, which gets around 70 miles per charge and completes a recharge in just a few hours. This is also a sturdy and durably made ebike, probably the best electric bike, with a load capacity of around 400 pounds.

Why We Like It – Pedego Stretch

The Pedego Stretch is a gorgeously hand-painted electric bike, available in multiple colors, with a state-of-the-art 48-volt lithium-ion battery that gets 70 miles on a charge and a good 400-pound max capacity.

  • 5 levels of pedal assist
  • Battery gets 70 miles per charge and charges quickly
  • 400 lb max capacity
  • Can struggle with steep inclines

Durability & Build Quality

From the front rack to the seat post to the rear rack, the olive green Pedego Stretch stands out as a quality e-bike with few other electric bikes coming to match, such as the Rad Power Bikes Radwagon. The Stretch comes with the required hookups for a separately sold Pedego’s Additional Passenger Package which is a padded seat and backrest for the rear rack tuning it into a safe seat. Performance (Speed & Acceleration)

Though the brushless geared rear hub motor is plenty powerful and can easily reach a max speed of 20 miles per hour, it does struggle on steeper-than-average inclines. Also, the modular rear attachments make it easy to attach a passenger seat or a storage trunk, neither is included with an initial purchase. A time might come when you want to get a fun trike, so feel free to read the Pedego trike review.

Range & Battery

The Stretch is a Class 2 ebike, providing five levels of pedal assist up to 20 mph as well as a right-hand twist throttle (moto fans rejoice!) for pedal-free power, also up to 20 mph. That assistance is provided by a 500W Pedego hub motor powered by a massive 48V 13Ah external battery mounted between the step-through frame’s seat tube and the rear wheel. But, if you need a more powerful bike that tackles 80 miles of hills on a single charge, you’ll want to check out the Ribble Endurance SL-E.

Safety Features

The back rack has guards around the top halves of the rear tire to protect your bags or passenger’s clothes, regardless of what you need them for, it will keep mud and cloth away from you and the gear cluster, respectively. If light safety is what you’re concerned with, then you’ll want to check out the Muller e-bike.

While the more expensive Tern GSD S10 Electric Cargo Bike has more features, the cost can be a little high for most, while the Pedego Stretch is a cheaper option for a cargo bike that can compete and stand out.

Pedego Stretch Wrap Up

While it’s not the Yuba Spicy Curry Bosch, the Stretch can still stand on its own feet as its level five pedal assist is especially helpful for people who are going farther or have an injury, though the latter will want to probably think twice if they head up any particularly steep hills.
