This Office Star mid-back task chair is one of the very popular mesh mid-back chairs that you can get that doesn’t come with armrests. The office chair is actually tagged as Amazon’s choice for a standing desk chair, meaning Amazon actually recognizes it as one of the best armless office chairs in its category. The mid-back chair is covered in a black vinyl nylon material that looks a lot like faux leather, and because of its small size, it doesn’t have much to offer in terms of lumbar support. There’s no high backrest, so we can’t really call it an executive chair, but it would still make a decent part of your office furniture, especially if you don’t have a very large space for your home office.

Why We Like It – Office Star Chairs

Like many office star products and Office Star Chairs, the Sculptured Vinyl Seat and Back Pneumatic Drafting Chair is a quality product that you should get if you’re looking for an office chair that you can use on a high table, or one that would fit well in a small space.

Pros
  • Mesh back allows for good air circulation
  • Affordable pricing
  • Foot rest is height adjustable
Cons
  • No armrests

Support

This mesh back office star works smart chair has what the manufacturer refers to as built-in lumbar support, which in our opinion, is very limited. You might need to stand up every now and then, especially if you have work that tends to take up a lot of your time. The same, however, cannot be said for the Flash Furniture Mid Back office chair because it has more of a curved backrest that seems to take up the shape of your spine. As a drafting chair, the Office Star breathable mesh chair is very well suitable for a countertop height work table, with the only thing that you’ll have to get accustomed to is its lack of armrests.

If you’re fine with armless chairs, you’ll like our reviews on the Office Star deluxe mesh drafting chair, HON ValuTask low-back task chair, and the Modway Prim Ribbed armless mid-back swivel conference chair.

Comfort

With a nice faux leather seat and a padded backrest, the Office Star leather office chair is pretty comfortable to use, but only if you’re fine with the lack of padded or adjustable arms. If that, however, is a dealbreaker for you, then you need to check out the AmazonBasics Leather Mid-Back Office Chairs since it comes with padded armrests. Other than that, the faux leather chair is a pretty decent choice for anyone who doesn’t prefer to have a high-back chair, and it also won’t cost you a lot of money, to begin with. Also, since this chair does not come with a headrest, another viable option that you’d do well to consider is the Office Star Air Grid mesh back chair, but if you’re looking for added lumbar support, the Office Star Pro-Line II Manager’s chair would also be worth a look. Alternatively, you can compare the Humanscale Freedom vs Liberty chairs for another option.

Adjustability

Things like the seat height and the chair’s tilt are things that are pretty simple to adjust with the Office Star low back office chair, so you will be able to easily modify the faux leather executive chair down to your preferences. The height adjustable footrest is also very key since you’ll be able to make height adjustments relative to your feet, meaning sitting at a tall table shouldn’t be an issue. The chair has a decent weight capacity of about 250 pounds, so ideally, if you’re the average person, it should be able to support your size. However, if you need a chair that supports 300lbs and has no adjustability, you’ll want to read our Office Factor reception guest chair review instead.

Breathability

As a mesh chair, breathability of the Office Star task chair black is a lot better than what you’d experience with a bonded leather office chair or even a ratchet back office chair. The mesh back allows for continuous air circulation, so you’ll be able to keep cool even as you’re working under hot summer conditions.

Value

Office Star is a company that is well known for manufacturing a whole bunch of office products, office furniture, home furniture, and office supplies, and the faux leather mid-back chair that we’re reviewing here is just one of the many task chairs that they have under production. Also, as a chair that retails at around $70, the Office Star Chair should be pretty affordable to most people, but if you’re looking to spend even less on a home furniture office chair, then perhaps the Ergonomic Office Chair Desk Chair might be worth considering.

Office Star Chairs Wrap Up

Like most office chairs of its size, this Star office chair fits in pretty well within a small space. This is key, especially if you don’t have that much space to work with, but if you did, then the Office Star Space Seating professional would be a nice affordable choice to go with. Nonetheless, the chair is of great quality, and the team behind it also offers great customer service in case you ever have to reach out to them.
