Holy tablet deals, Batman! HTC has announced a new promotion scheme for the Nexus 9 mini-tablet, and it’s a big one: From now until around Christmas time, the company will offer the Nexus 9 at half price, $199, one day per week, directly from its website.
That 50% cut is only going to come around on Tuesdays, when the deal is active from the start of the day until midnight EST. Otherwise, you’ll have to buy the Nexus 9 from somewhere else, probably for the full $399 retail price (even on Google’s own site). The tablet is sold at Best Buy and Amazon.com, but HTC is the only one currently offering the deal. Perhaps the others are saving their Nexus discounts for the Black Friday masses?
If you’d like a refresher course on the Nexus 9, this is a smaller Google tablet with an 8.9-inch HD touchscreen and Android 5.0 Lollipop, the first tablet to run such an advanced version of Android. This gives it an extra burst of speed and makes the tablet an ideal competitor to the family of mini-iPads. It’s available in 16GB and 32GB versions, and comes with rear and front-facing cameras.
This major discount is going to require some speedy fingers if you want to take part. Apparently, HTC has a limited supply devoted to each Tuesday, and they sell out fast. You can visit the HTC website to see the current status of the discount every week: However, if you actually want to buy one of the tablets, you better set your alarm for midnight EST and get ready to refresh the screen. Otherwise, wait until Black Friday and Cyber Monday to see if any other deals drop for Nexus products.
