Nexus 4 Price Slashed By $100, Bought One Recently? Get Refund from Google

Yup. The picture above is the box I received from Google earlier this year in February, when the Nexus 4 finally came back in at a reasonable stock level for me to order a box-load of them for my family and friends in Asia.

If you’ve been itching to buy a Nexus 4, there really isn’t a better time than now.  As the release date  (or rather, confirmation) of the Nexus 5 device nears, Google threw a curve ball today, dropping the prices on the Nexus 4 across the field by a large $100 discount.

The 8GB model of the Nexus 4 now clocks in at $199.99 while the 16GB model is at $249.99. Both are in stock and ships within 1-2 days with two-day shipping in most location.

For those that have recently bought a Nexus 4 and is now feeling like you got kicked in the nether regions by Google, don’t sweat it. If you’ve bought the phone within the past 15 days, you can request for a price adjustment from Google. The process is fairly simple:

  1. Visit the Nexus price adjustment request form
  2. Login to the account you made the purchase from
  3. Pick the device (8GB or 16GB model)
  4. Input order number
  5. Asset number, which in this case means the IMEI # for your phone. You can find it on your box or in Settings > About phone > Status
  6. Put in purchase date (remember, within 15 days of price adjustment, which is 8/27/13)

You have the next 15 days from today to request this price adjustment. If you forgot to submit this form afterwards, you’re out of luck. If you bought over 15 days ago from today, you’re also a bit out of luck :(

    1. Hey Kumar,
Unfortunately not. But it wouldn’t hurt to contact Google and let them know. However, the Google Play store return policy is 15 days from the date of purchase, which is a bit unfair relatively speaking to other retailers. Again, give it a shot and let us know if you make any headway.

  1. Hi is the pay back also valid if i made a half down payment (210$) for a Nexus 4 16GB? What is the order no in this case- the plan ID by the network I opted for or S/N no. provided in the box?
