Motorola Droid RAZR HD and Droid RAZR HD Maxx Officially Debut (video/pics)

Nokia isn’t the only kid on the block with new wares to show off.  Today, Motorola announced a brand new Droid Razr, the Droid Razr HD.  They’ve also gone ahead and annoucned the new Droid Razr HD Maxx, which like the iteration before, boasts a slightly larger build and weight, but in return a bigger, longer lasting battery.

The Droid RAZR HD, as the name suggests, sports a 4.7-inch Super AMOLED 720p capable screen, which is a step up over the Droid RAZR’s 540×960 display.  But make no mistake, this isn’t a one trick pony.  Under the hood is a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, which should make the Android ICS OS – upgradable to Jelly Bean when available – move along smoothly.  The RAZR’s familiar Kevlar coating and Corning’s Gorilla glass continues to play a protective roll in this handset.  Unfortunately, it’s thickness has grown from 7.1mm to 8.4mm, though in light of the 2,530mAh battery, it’s a caveat we’re willing to accept.  The remaining features include an 8-megapixel camera that can capture full HD video, 16GB of storage expandable via a microSD card slot, Bluetooth 4.0+EDR, LTE support, WiFi with 8 Mobile Hotspots, and a weight of 146g.

The Droid RAZR HD Maxx sports the same features, yet includes a 3,300mAh battery, which Motorola says provides up to 8 hours of continuous web surfing, 8 hours of GPS turn-by-turn navigation, or 32 hours of mixed use.  But with that larger battery comes a slightly heavier build of 157g and a body that measures 9.3mm thick.  And not for nothing, it sports 32GB of storage, as opposed to the RAZR HD’s 16GB.

Unfortunately, Motorola, or Verizon, who will carrier the phones when they’re are finally released, haven’t told us a price or launch date.
