The Magic Bullet Blender MBR-1101 is a great low-cost option that is extremely easy to use, clean, and maintain. However, its poor build quality, low-powered motor, heating, and burnout-related issues are significant drawbacks that can’t be overlooked.

Overview

The Magic Bullet Blender MBR-1101 is a mid-range model that was first released in 2015. Just like the most popular blenders in the market today, it comes with three different pitchers that are 15 oz, 12 oz, and 4 oz, respectively, in terms of capacity. And similar to the best blenders under $100, all of those pitchers are made of BPA-free plastic and are dishwasher-friendly for easy cleaning.

However, if you don’t need dishwasher-friendly equipment, you can also take a look at our Magic Bullet Mini review. This blender also features a 250 watt DC brushless motor with four non-removable sharp blades that crush through tougher ingredients like nuts and ice with minimal effort.

At its default and only speed setting of 20800 RPM, this blender produces a max sound level of 86.4 decibels, and it is one of the quieter blenders you can go for in its range.

What the brand doesn’t always tell you…

our Verdict

Despite having a sub-par plastic build, the Magic Bullet Blender MBR-1101 is an excellent inexpensive option for both new and experienced users, as it does not suffer from any jar leak issues. And being tested at just 86.4 decibels, it is on par with other blenders available in its range in terms of noise.

However, while it can handle both crushing ice and producing nut butter (thanks to its four sharp blades), the MBR-1101 does have a fairly low-powered 250-watt motor which can suffer from burnout during constant blending.

If you need a similar blender that features a more powerful motor, make sure to take a look at our Breville Boss To Go Blender review. However, the MBR-1101 does come with dishwasher safe attachments and is easy to clean.

The Magic Bullet Blender MBR-1101 comes with three different pitchers (two for smoothies and a smaller 4 oz jar for making salsas, chutneys, and salad dressing), but the Magic Bullet Essential only has one main container. The MBR-1101 also features several backup storage lids and a to-go lid, all of which the Essential blender lacks. However, the Essential model does produce silkier smoothies than the MBR-1101 blender, with leafy and fibrous materials like kale.

Thanks to its more powerful 700-watt DC brushless motor, the NutriBullet Pro 900 crushes ice, nuts, and other tougher ingredients much faster than the 250-watt Magic Bullet Blender MBR-1101. The Pro 900 model also produces better, smoother smoothies than the Magic Bullet Blender, even with fibrous ingredients (e.g., kale), and it has a better build quality. While both these models feature two prominent pitchers, the 900 also has two to-go lids.

The Magic Bullet Blender MBR-1101 produces better single-serve smoothies than the Oster MyBlend, as it produces better consistency compared to MyBlend’s more grainy mixture. While the MBR-1101 features two main pitchers and a salsa container, the Oster MyBlend only has one main jar. The MBR-1101 also produces tough-to-grind recipes (e.g., nut butter) much faster than the MyBlend model, and its BPA-Free Plastic pitchers are easier to clean as they are dishwasher-friendly.
