If you’re looking for an affordable electric scooter that’s the best electric scooter for climbing hills in a lower price range, the Macwheel Electric Scooter provides the right amount of power and features. It has a dual-disc braking system with anti-lock and a 350W hub motor for good torque and speed. We trust you’ll feel more confident about it after comparing it with the best electric scooter.
If you’re on the fence about electric scooters, the Macwheel Electric Scooter provides enough power and fun while also bringing some much-needed safety features and range. For a bigger range scooter, check out the Joyor Electric Scooter, which does up to 31 miles on a single charge. And, if you’d like a powerful model, read our Emojo bike review.
While technically speaking, the Macwheel Electric Scooter is faster than the Glion Dolly Foldable Lightweight Adult Electric Scooter, going 15.6mph, the Glion is more consistent. Only in ideal conditions does the Macwheel Electric Scooter manage to hit those top speeds. Even the Xiaomi M365 performs slightly better than both.
Related: The Maxtra Electric Scooter has a top speed of 10-12 MPH, which is safe enough for kids.
The 8.5-inch airless tires have built-in shock suspension and anti-puncture properties and are explosion-proof, providing an overall safer ride. This is in addition to a solid dual-disc braking system and front and rear lights, though they’re somewhat small and dim. Additionally, the Ninebot by Segway kickscooter ES4 has a dual braking system if safety is a major concern.
While we wouldn’t consider 18.6 miles a “high capacity long-range battery,” it does manage to provide several more miles than average. It’s about the same as the vehicle in our Hiboy Max electric scooter review. Even more important: it cranks out those miles on just 4 hours of charging. It’s still a far cry from the NanRobot D5+’s 50-mile range, but it’s still fantastic in its own right.
For the sake of maintenance, the Macwheel MX1 Electric Scooter dropped air-filled tires for air-free tires. Those significantly reduce maintenance. The overall frame is aluminum, light, and durable, but it cannot—under any circumstances—go out in the rain because it will damage the e-scooter. Moreover, it doesn’t have a seat, so you if you’re not comfortable traveling long distances standing, you might want to get a sit-down scooter instead.
Considering something like a high-quality Segway Ninebot goes for nearly $300 and is outperformed by the Macwheel Electric Scooter, it makes the Macweheel that much more affordable and worth looking at. There aren’t, by any means, the best electric scooters, but they certainly serve their purpose as starter electric scooters. If power is what you’re after, then the NanRobot D4+ is where it’s at. Another option you can check out is the Segway Ninebot E22, which can be had for around $630. Additionally, if you are interested, you can compare the value you can get from Segway ES2 vs E22 models.
The Macwheel Electric Scooter provides ideal fun in the sun on a budget. That’s where it’s most comfortable, with conditions allowing it to reach its maximum speed of 15.6mph more consistently. More importantly, its battery life of nearly 19 miles feels a lot better than your run-of-the-mill scooters; it’s just enough and then some.
