Macbook Air Refresh Might Be Coming to WWDC 2018

Macbook Air Refresh
A new Macbook Air might be arriving at WWDC 2016.

If you’re reading this article it’s because you got wind of a new Macbook Air refresh in 2016.  However, and not to dash your dreams of a new svelte laptop from Apple, at this point things are unconfirmed.  However, it’s inevitable that Apple will refresh their lightweight, ultrabook like laptop, so we’ll continue to feed you whatever news and info we get.

That all said, the new Macbook Airs are saids to be slimmer and lighter than their predecessors.  How?  Apple has redesigned the computer’s internals.  How they jammed the same amount of stuff into an already slim package is a bit mind boggling, but it is Apple and they’re known for pushing the boundaries of industrial design.

And about that 11-inch Macbook Air.  It’s supposedly going the way of the Dodo bird.  Which is to say Apple supposedly has plans to discontinue the machine.  Logically this makes sense in light of the new Macbook, which is a 12-inch machine and competes directly with the 11-inch Macbook Air. Conversely, the source of the rumor points to a 13-inch and a 15-inch Macbook Air.

Unfortunately, this means that we probably won’t see a touchscreen laptop, or duo machine, from Apple any time soon, as it would not only compete with these aforementioned machines, but would take aim at their own new tablet, the Apple iPad Pro. Sad, because I think an Apple tablet/laptop would have a great spot amongst Apple devotees, but alas there is no incentive for them to build one, at least from a sales perspective right now.

So when will we see the new Macbook Airs for 2016?  The source seems to think they’ll make their debut at the 2016 Worldwide Developers Conference.  Which means they’ll likely go on sale shortly after; June or July of that year.

Again, it’s important to note that, at least for now, the above should be taken as rumor or speculation.
