The Logitech M720 Triathlon is a comfortable, no-frills office mouse with an ergonomic design for extended use. It connects to three devices and works with Windows and MacOS but it is quite heavy, and its software doesn’t run on Linux.

Overview

Released towards the end of 2020, the Logitech M720 Triathlon is a mid-tier office/productivity mouse with ten buttons, six of which are programmable. The standard-size mouse uses Bluetooth connectivity for multi-device pairing and has a sensitivity rating of 1000 DPI. If this is too low, other alternatives on our list of the best computer mice have a much higher rating. That said, the M720 ships with one AA battery for a 2-year battery life and also features a battery indicator.

Its hyper-fast, programmable scroll wheel allows convenient navigation, but the M720 is designed for right-handed users. Fortunately, the mouse has companion software that runs on Windows and Mac OS systems and uses Optical LED sensor technology that suits a variety of surfaces. The M720 is also ideal for small to medium size hand users with a claw/palm grip or medium to large-hand-size users who prefer a finger-tip grip.

What Is Not on the Box

What the brand doesn’t always tell you…

our Verdict

The Logitech M720 Triathlon is a well-built office, compact mouse that prioritizes comfort for long-term use. It offers an ergonomic shape that’ll be comfortable for most users for long working sessions and can be comfortably used with a fingertip grip. With the ability to connect to three devices simultaneously via Bluetooth and a USB receiver, it enhances productivity and seamlessly connects with Windows and MacOS systems.
The M720 is on the heavier side, weighing 134.8g, but its tested click latencies are good enough for office use (13.7ms for the receiver and 16ms for Bluetooth). Additionally, it has a standard 1000 CPI rating without adjustable sensitivity. Still, it is powered by a long-lasting AA battery that lasts up to 24 months and features PTFE feet for smooth gliding.

The Logitech M720 Triathlon can connect to a device through Bluetooth or a wireless USB dongle, while the Logitech Marathon Mouse M705 only connects through a Bluetooth connection. This difference allows the M720 Triathlon to connect to up to three devices, while the M705 is limited to one. Additionally, the M720 Triathlon requires a single AA battery, while the M705 needs two, and while the M705 has five programmable buttons, the M720 Triathlon has six. If the M705 sounds worthwhile, check it out in our Logitech Marathon Mouse M705 review.

The Logitech M720 Triathlon is significantly bigger than the Logitech MX Anywhere 2S; however, the Anywhere 2S houses a rechargeable battery, while the M720 depends on a single AA battery. The M720 also has a slightly higher total of six programmable inputs compared to the MX Anywhere 2S, which has five. On the flip side, the MX Anywhere 2S has a higher sensitivity rating of 4000 DPI compared to the M720, which is limited to 1000 DPI. Feel free to browse through our Logitech MX Anywhere 2S review to see what else it has in store.

While the Logitech M720 Triathlon mouse is more of an office or productivity mouse, the Redragon Cobra M711 is a gaming mouse with RGB lighting and is wired. This makes it quite different from the M720, which uses a Logitech unifying receiver and misses out on RGB lights. A couple more differences between the two are that the M711 has ten programmable inputs while the M720 has only six, and while the M711’s wired nature limits it to connect to only one device at a time, the M720’s Bluetooth connectivity allows it to connect to up to three devices simultaneously. Here’s our Redragon M711 Cobra Gaming Mouse review for more insight.
