Why We Like It – LG 24ML600M-B

The LG 24ML600M-B is a monitor with a 24” FHD IPS panel (1920x1080p), a 120Hz refresh rate, a 3-side virtually borderless design, Radeon FreeSync Technology, dual HDMI ports, and an aspect ratio of 16:9 that’s available “like new” for $130.

  • Refresh Rate Of 120Hz
  • 5ms Response Time (1ms MBR)
  • 3-Side Borderless Design
  • Lacks Internal Speakers

This average-looking monitor has a surprising amount of performance packed into its simple design. Radeon FreeSync technology reduces image tearing, working alongside Dynamic Action Sync, Motion Blur Reduction, and Flicker Safe technology to provide a visual experience that’s far beyond what you would expect from a cheap, basic-looking monitor. The IPS panel has a full HD resolution of 1920x1080p, 5ms response time (1ms with MBR), and a refresh rate of 120Hz (if you need a higher refresh rate, consider the Asus ROG PG279Q).

Viewing Angle

Like most IPS monitors, the LG 24ML600M-B has a viewing angle of 178˚ vertically and 178˚ horizontally. This means you can view the full HD panel from essentially any angle (if full HD isn’t enough for you, check out the 4K Asus ROG Strix XG438Q instead). The stand it comes on lacks any height adjustment or swivel features, but it does allow you to tilt the monitor slightly backward and forwards. With a contrast ratio of 1000:1, the screen should be adequate for most viewing situations.

The stand that this monitor sits on is cased in plastic, but the actual structure that supports the monitor is made of metal, so it won’t have a problem supporting the IPS panel. Alone, the monitor weighs 6.2 lbs and with the stand, it weighs 6.8 lbs, so the whole setup is very light and easy to adjust. The monitor has a unique 3-side borderless design (try the Alienware AW3420DW if you’re looking for a curved near-virtually borderless monitor). However, because of this, you will have to be extra cautious around the edges of the monitor.

Ports & Expandability

One VGA input, dual HDMI inputs, and a 3.5mm audio output jack are the only connection options available on this monitor. This might be somewhat disappointing if you’re used to more expensive monitors with additional HDMI ports, a DisplayPort, or USB 2.0, 3.0, and USB-C ports, but that’s what you get at this price point. Still, these inputs should be enough for a basic setup, and if you need more HDMI inputs you can always buy an HDMI splitter separately.

It might not have the most unique design and styling, or possess a wide variety of inputs like other high-end computer monitors, but for the price this monitor definitely more than delivers. The 24ML600M-B only costs $130, although it is important to note that this is a “like new” model, not a brand new one. Still, most people seem happy with this, as it scores a 4.1 out of 5-stars based on 22 Amazon reviews. Shipping is free, but returns are not, and there isn’t a warranty available.

LG 24ML600M-B Wrap Up

At first glance, it’s not very impressive, but the LG 24ML600M-B actually delivers pretty decent specs at a good price. It lacks any USB ports or a DisplayPort like many other monitors on the market, but at only $130 with a refresh rate of 120Hz and FreeSync support, we think that’s a detail that can be overlooked.
