Komodo by Sceptre KU515R 50″ 4K UHD Ultra Slim LED TV Review is one of the best TV for seniors options. It has plenty of input ports for a flexible viewing experience and a sharp picture that brings non-UHD content into the future. And it’s lightweight and easy to wall mount. Why We Like It – Komodo by Sceptre KU515R 50″ 4K UHD Ultra Slim LED TV

The Komodo by Sceptre KU515R 50″ 4K UHD Ultra Slim LED TV Review has 4 HDMI ports for maximum connectivity and flexibility. It’s a great value for a 4K resolution set and comes with a Consumer Electronics Control so you can control all of your connected devices with just one remote. For a slightly larger 4K TV, the Insignia 55-inch TV offers similar specs with added smart TV functionality. You can also check out how Dolby Vision and 4K compare.

Pros
  • 4 HDMI ports
  • Affordable
  • Simple and easy to set up
Cons
  • No smart features (which is a pro for some folks!)
  • Bad sound quality

Performance/Display/Resolution/Refresh

With over 8 million pixels, the Komodo 4K Ultra HD LED TV is way sharper and clearer than a standard 1080p TV. This 50-inch TV has a LED backlight for great color contrast, and it has UHD upscaling technology that will bring your favorite old shows into the feature, with high resolution and near 4K quality. The 60hz refresh rate is great for watching a smooth sports game. Many Amazon reviewers also used this TV as a secondary computer monitor in their home office. You’ll want to compare the Komodo’s features to the Sony X950G.

Sound

This TV has built-in speakers that aren’t great. Many Amazon reviewers chose to add an external sound bar or stereo system for better sound quality. For a TV with better sound quality, read our Samsung 50-inch Class Crystal UHD TU-8000 review.

Smart Features

This is not a smart TV, so not a great addition to an existing smart home, but you can connect your smartphone to the TV via its HDMI port and scroll through your streaming services that way. You can also hook up a Chromecast, Roku TV, or Fire TV Stick to one of its many input ports if you want to easily add smart features. So, if you’re looking for a TV with more bells and whistles, you might want to check out the Samsung 55 Inch 4K TV instead. But if you’re not super tech-savvy and don’t want to fumble around with setting up smart features, then the Komodo is definitely good for you! Alternatively, if you do want a smart TV, you can check out our Vizio V505 review for a model that uses Chromecast built-in.

Ports/Expandability

The Komodo has 4 HDMI inputs, as well as a USB port for maximum connectivity. Plug in your cable box, DVD player, gaming consoles, and flash drive all at once. It also comes with a remote control that works on all of your HDMI connected devices, which makes the TV very easy-to-use. Check out our Samsung 8000 Series review for another option with great connectivity plus smart TV functionality.

Value

While Komodo isn’t a well-known TV brand, the $230 price tag is hard to beat. While the lack of smart features does lower the value of this TV, the sharp picture and flexibility of input ports definitely makes up for it.
