Why We Like It – HP Envy 5055

The HP Envy All-in-One Printer prints high-quality, highly detailed, and colourful photos and documents that are perfect for home or small office use. And with wi-fi and USB connection, as well as a variety of companion apps, printing your document with the ENVY 5055 should be as simple as pressing a button

  • Fantastic for Photos
  • Simple and Intuitive Touch Screen
  • Alexa Compatible
  • Not Suited for Heavy Office Use
  • High Running Costs Without Instant Ink
  • No ADF

The HP Envy 5055 printer is rated at 10 pages per minute for monochrome pages and seven for colour pages. If you’d like to print faster, consider the Brother Monochrome Laser Printer for its 30 page per minute print speeds. To be fair, though, the Envy 5055 was optimized to print photos, and the print quality of the photos it does supply are colourful and highly-detailed. Thus, if you’re using it as a family printer or for light home office use, it should be able to get any job you want done without much of an issue.

The HP Envy Inkjet Printer connects via wi fi and possesses a variety of connectivity options, such as the HP Smart app and Apple AirPrint. When it comes to capacity, the paper tray on the Envy 5055 can hold 100 sheets of regular letter paper, 10 envelopes, or 20 sheets of premium photo paper. The Envy has a monochrome touch screen measuring 2.2 inches. A printer review may see this as a negative, but for home or light office use, which this printer was designed for, simpler is always better. Even the HP OfficeJet 3830 All-in-One Wireless Printer includes a monochrome touch screen so there’s obviously some merit to that design philosophy.

With an HP Instant Ink subscription, running costs will remain low as you can order color cartridges and black ink cartridges at a discounted price. In fact, without a subscription, printing a monochrome page can cost upwards of 10 cents per page and 22 cents per page for colour. Like the HP OfficeJet 5255 Wireless printer, the Envy 5055 supports duplex printing so there will be no need to look elsewhere for that. It retails for $140.00, which is a fair price for a printer of this quality.

HP Envy 5055 Wrap Up

It’s a shame how much ink cartridges cost. It practically forces you to have to sign up for Instant Ink. But on the bright side, it does keep costs really low. And if that’s the only drawback to buying an HP Envy 5055 it’s probably best just to bite the bullet and sign up for the service. At least it automatically orders so it’s one less thing to have on your mind, right?
