How to Add a Webcam Border

Creating a webcam border (also known as a streaming overlay) is light work. To do this, find a website specializing in stream overlay makers. From there, you can choose a free version or pay for a subscription if you want something more detailed and unlimited access to the site’s features.

STEP 1

Find a trustworthy and reliable design tool. Plenty of free versions and trials are available for testing before being required to pay.

STEP 2

Once you’ve logged in, create your custom design. When setting the specifications for your webcam frame, select the custom dimensions to 1920 x 1080; this is the recommended resolution.

STEP 3

Choose a template and adjust the shapes, colors, gradience, and other desired customization options.

STEP 4

After completing the custom overlay, download the document.

STEP 5

Using photoshop, make the background transparent by removing the image’s interior. If you don’t know how to do this, you’ll need to google the steps.

Save the new image as a PNG file.

STEP 7

In your broadcasting software platform, such as OBS studio or whichever version you use, select “Add Source.” Then, press “Add Video Capture Device” and add the webcam you use for streaming.

Set the resolution to 1920 x 1080.

To add webcam overlays, press “Add Source.” Then press “Image.”

STEP 10

Upload the stream overlay image you’ve created.

Resize the border so that it fits over the webcam image.
