Getting sound back on is not as complex as finding out how to fix a black screen on a tv. Fixing a TV with audio loss is pretty simple; all you need to do is the following:
First, point your TV remote at your Television and press the mute button. It doesn’t matter if you remember not muting your TV. You or anyone in your household might have unintentionally pressed the mute button.
Next, turn on your TV’s volume by pressing the ‘Increase Volume’ button. This will let you see where the volume meter is set at. If the sound increases each time the button is pressed, your television’s volume was set too low. If your TV is connected to a set-top box, make sure to increase its volume as well. If your set-top box volume is set too low, you won’t be able to hear any sound even if you turn your TV’s volume to maximum.
In case you have speakers hooked to your TV, unplug them. If the sound plays through the Television’s internal speakers and not the auxiliary output device like a speaker, then the output device is defective, not the TV.
If you have headphones plugged into your TV, the sound output will be projected through their speakers and will be too low to hear. So, unplug any headphones if they are connected.
Go to the TV audio settings and make sure your TV speakers are selected. Check that your TV speakers are not set up as ‘Center speaker.’
Verify that your TV MTS settings are configured to ‘main or ‘stereo.’ If the source device does not transmit a stereo signal, the sound will only come out of one speaker. As a result, the volume output will be low.
Unplug your TV and plug it back in after 5 minutes. A minor software glitch might have occurred and corrupted its audio output. Turning it off and turning it back on should fix the problem.
Switch channels to find out if you still experience audio loss on every channel. For example, if channel one has sound and channel two doesn’t, channel two might be experiencing some technical issues that have nothing to do with your TV.
Finally, if you own a smart TV, your sound might not work due to a firmware update. If there is a new firmware update for your TV, install it. Check your television’s sound after updating the firmware. If there’s sound, everything is fine with your TV.
