For a strong, affordable steam cleaner, the Hoover Power Scrub Deluxe may just be the best steam vacuum cleaner in its bracket. For starters, it keeps its clean water, dirty water, and cleaning solution separate—so you’re always cleaning with fresh water. At the same time, the 360-degree brushes are scrubbing away without damaging the carpet. When you’re ready to get a vacuum to go with your steam cleaner, check out this list of the best vacuum cleaner reviews.

Hoover Power Scrub Deluxe
The Hoover Power Scrub Deluxe makes up for its lesser power through the use of 360-degree brushes that dig deep into your carpet to remove stains, without causing damage.
It doesn’t have as much suction power as the Rug Doctor Mighty Pro X3, but the Hoover Power Scrub Deluxe shines when you take your time and move slowly. On a side note, the Rug Doctor is for commercial use, while the power of the Hoover carpet washer is more personal.

Since you can’t move too fast, the speed at which you’ll clean rooms has to be at a snail’s pace; otherwise, you aren’t getting the results you want. This gives the 360-degree brushes time to work their magic. The brushes are really tough on stains and gentle on your carpet, but only if you take your time.
Like its brother, the Hoover Smartwash, the Hoover Power Scrub Deluxe makes the smart decision to separate dirty water, clean water, and cleaning solution. That means you’ll always clean with the right amount of solution, in addition to clean water. Unfortunately, it doesn’t heat its 1-gallon water tank.

While the Hoover Power Scrub Deluxe is primarily made of plastic, it’s one bulky piece of machinery. Hoover made another smart decision by reducing the number of small, plastic pieces jutting out from its design. You’re far less worried about breaking the machine.
By many accounts, the Rug Doctor Mighty Pro X3 is ultimately better, but the Hoover Power Scrub Deluxe is far more accessible due to being almost a third of the price. And its performance can comfortably compete with the X3. For that, it gets our seal of approval. If you want above-ground vacuuming though, stick to the Tineco Pure One S12.
If you take it slow, the Hoover Power Scrub Deluxe can compete with the big dogs of carpet cleaning. Sure, you have to heat your own water, but the carpet cleaner has a whole gallon to fill. The MVP here though is its 360-degree scrubbers that are tough on stains and easy on your carpet. Did we mention it’s under $200? Now you know!
