Why We Like It – HOKA ONE ONE Rincon

The HOKA ONE ONE Rincon Running Shoe, bottom line, is a light, soft, and fast shoe. There are other buzz-worthy shoes in HOKA’s repertoire, such as the Carbon X, for example, but the HOKA ONE ONE Rincon does everything you ask of it and is a lot more affordable than other shoes.

  • Very lightweight
  • Snug Fit
  • Less expensive than most HOKA shoes
  • Tongue is a little short
  • Pull Tab is cumbersome
  • Still on the expensive side

The HOKA Shoes remain comfortable even on long runs, but can also keep you cozy when you want to turn it up a notch and go sprinting down a trail or through a park. When road running, the meta rocker allows you to transition from heel strike to strike seamlessly and, as an added bonus, this rocker is less-obvious than in other HOKA shoes. Despite all this, the shoe is surprisingly lightweight. But if you prefer something heavier for a slightly tougher workout, consider the ASICS Gel-Venture 5.

The mesh upper on the Rincon is simple and consists of a non-engineered mesh that’s free from any overlays. The fit is snug and doesn’t stretch. However, this may make the shoe feel like it’s a little tight. The pull tab, located on the heel, may help you to get the shoe to fit snug, but it’s quite large and floppy and gets in the way more than anything. Like most HOKA shoes, though, it’s not exactly fashionable. Try the Nike Revolution 3 if you like to mix fashion with exercise.

The HOKA ONE ONE retails for $132.00 on Amazon which is pretty cheap for running shoes of this quality, but still not the lowest we’ve seen. But at least you qualify for free shipping! At this price the Rincon competes with the New Balance FuelCell Propel and the KUBUA Running Shoes. The Rincon also has an aggressive upturn in the toe box which, in conjunction with the meta rocker, aids it in gliding and transitioning from heel to toe.

HOKA ONE ONE Rincon Wrap Up

HOKA has always been known to make a quality pair of running shoes and the Rincon is no exception to this. It’s even cheaper than most HOKA running shoes, but still not the cheapest around. Fantastic for long runs and high-intensity sprints, the Rincon Running Shoes will get you where you want to go, comfortably.
