Action cameras are a popular trend and rightfully so, as they can capture anything through super-smooth footage. Featured as number 3 in the best action camera buying guide, the GoPro Hero 7 has a HyperSmooth video stabilization feature that produces a gimbal-like flow without actually needing a gimbal.
The time warp/time-lapse video feature combines the concept of regular frame-by-frame time-lapse shooting with HyperSmooth, creating a stabilized hyperlapse. This allows the user to capture time-lapsed footage while having the ability to move around. There’s also a voice control feature with a range of voice commands to allow hands-free action shots.
This black GoPro action cam delivers an insanely smooth video quality, with the stabilization being equal to if a gimbal has actually been used. Footage can be viewed up to 8x slow motion with a 1080×240 frame rate using Slo-Mo. The camera also has features that include Facebook live streaming, an intelligent photo mode, portrait mode, and the ability to stabilize time-lapsed video. When submerged underwater, it can handle up to 10 meters/33 ft. water depth, which is similar to the Nikon Coolpix W100. There’s a GoPro app that can be used to edit those photos and videos among other features. The GoPro 7 Black action camera has a rubber body with a smooth front with a small frame to wrap around it to allow the camera to be mounted on stands, helmets, and handlebars with the help of clips to stay in place. The two memory card types that it accepts are Micro SD and, similarly to the Sony FDR-X3000 Underwater Camcorder White, MicroSDHC. However, the compartment doors for the USB C/HDMI ports as well as the battery aren’t easy to open due to the camera being waterproof.
More than one GoPro Hero7 Black review from the United States has stated that accessories were not included with the camera. If the user plans to use a camera underwater, there are better alternatives like the AKASO EK7000 Pro Action Camera if the user wants to dive into a body of water deeper than a shallow lake. There are also cheaper cameras with similar image and video qualities such as the Dragon Touch 4K Action Camera.
This waterproof camera has outstanding video and image quality partly due to HyperSmooth stabilization. Along with HyperSmooth, there are plenty of tools and software to produce shareable photos and videos, whether on land or underwater. However, the battery life is and the camera itself is capable of heating up when recording in 4K.
