The Garmin Forerunner 245 Music is the apple watch of sports watches, if you pretend that’s a compliment you’ll find in this review Garmin Forerunner has added many new features in the 245 Music, namly music storage so you won’t need to trudge through your jot without music. When trying to get in shape it’s best to have a guide and picking the best fitbit in 2020 is no different.

Why We Like It – Garmin Forerunner 245 Music

The Garmin Forerunner 245 Music tracks more sports than before from strength training to swimming. Through it’s fitness tracker it gives you better feedback on your training to help you tell if your load is too low or too high, as well as daily stress insights and an indication of whether you should be resting or not, thanks to Garmin’s elevated heart rate monitor.

  • Lightweight design
  • Super comfortable
  • Great battery life
  • Still feels a little cheap
  • Sleep tracking could be more accurate

Best of all it has been given a battery upgrade, lasting more than twice as long as its predecessor when GPS is active. There’s a lot crammed into such a compact smartwatch. Between the built in heart rate sensor and incident detection there are few running watches let alone smart watches that have as many features for keeping you healthy and fit. Lets not forget the new body battery feature that measures the amount of energy reserve you have throughout the day, while the competitors such as the Fitbit Versa 2 can’t do that for you.

The Forerunner 245 is definitely not a smartwatch that people are going to buy as an extension of their smartphone or to look pretty on their wrists, but it hasn’t been designed for those reasons. Aimed at providing fitness tracking data to those who workout often, the Garmin Forerunner 245 includes a good number of activity tracking capabilities but not at the expense of form factor. Unfortunately due to the multitude of features like sports tracking and gps mode, means the watch is made of plastic with a cheap feel to it unlike the feeling of the Fitbit Inspire HR.

The added music features are a must for many joggers with the smartwatch features coming more as back up, but does it and the Garmin connect app options or even the option to use Garmin pay make it worth the higher price tag, just to more easily track your training status compared to options like the Fitbit Charge 4.

Garmin Forerunner 245 Music Wrap Up

While not as flashy as the Fitbit Ionic the Garmin Forerunner 245 Music may earn a higher degree of appreciation but that will ultimately come down as a decision for the customer. Though if running is your focus and you don’t need the more advanced features found on top-end models you’re likely to be happy with this one.
