The Frigidaire FGMO226NUF smudge-proof stainless steel microwave oven is a 2.2 cu. ft. built-in microwave that offers over 30 setting options to choose from while preparing your food and is available in smudge-proof stainless steel encasing. At about $400, the microwave is more expensive than mid-range options, but it’s still not considered a luxury purchase.

The microwave oven is also pretty easy to use, and also features sensor cooking which is a feature that users who don’t like spending time in the kitchen will greatly appreciate. Could it be the best built-in microwave for you? Read on and find out.

Why We Like It – Frigidaire Built in Microwave

The Frigidaire Built-In Microwave is a decent option for anyone who’s looking for a kitchen appliance that will help free up their time, or anyone that just doesn’t enjoy cooking as much. The microwave’s got 2.2 cubic feet of interior capacity, which is enough space to prepare family-size meals.

Pros
  • High Powered Microwave at 1200 Watts
  • Sleek stainless steel design
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • No child lock safety feature

Power & Performance

Unlike the Equator 0.8 microwave convection oven which only has 800 watts, the Frigidaire countertop microwave packs about 1200 watts of cooking power, making it just as powerful as the NN-SN67KS Panasonic Microwave Oven 1200 Watts. It’s important to pay attention to the wattage that a microwave comes with because the higher the wattage on a particular microwave, the faster it’ll be able to prepare your food. The Frigidaire microwave’s sensor cooking feature also means that the microwave comes preprogrammed with the power & time settings required to cook certain meals, so all you have to do is input which meal you need to have prepared and it’ll do the rest.

Durability

Similar to the GE Profile PEB9159SJSS microwave, the stainless steel Frigidaire microwave is very easy to clean and maintain, as its stainless steel build is pretty much smudge-proof as well as fingerprint resistant. Inside, you’ll find a glass turntable that’s about 16.5 inches in diameter, which is wider than that of the NN-SN686S Panasonic Microwave 1200w by about 2 inches. The Frigidaire microwave also comes with a 3-year limited warranty, but if you’re still weary of what to expect, you can opt for its 5-year warranty for peace of mind, though at an added cost.

Ease of Use

All the touch options on the Frigidaire control panel are well labeled and easy to make out, so you shouldn’t have any issues figuring out which button does what even if you’re a first-time user. The microwave is also very quiet during operation, and can be set such that it doesn’t beep at night so that everyone enjoys a peaceful sleep. Check out the Panasonic Microwave 1200w if you are interested in a microwave with an Inverter technology that heats up your food evenly.

Additional Features & Versatility

You won’t get the same kind of grilling features on the Daewoo microwave or the Nostalgia RMO770RED as you will on this Frigidaire microwave. So you, unfortunately, won’t be able to brown your food if you wanted to get it crispy. This should however not discourage you from getting the Frigidaire microwave, as the grilling element isn’t that common of a feature in microwaves.

Value

Headquartered in the United States, Frigidaire is a company that’s been making major appliances since 1918, so you can bet that they know how to put together a quality product. Also worth noting is that the Frigidaire FGMO226NUF is only available in black stainless steel color, and we also think its stainless steel trim kit makes it look great when mounted.

Frigidaire Built in Microwave Wrap Up

Although you can opt to have it as a countertop microwave, the Frigidaire built-in microwave looks best when installed into your kitchen cabinetry. To do this, you’ll need to purchase the appropriate trim kit, and in most cases, you’ll have to buy it separately.
