Dyson Doubles the Suction of the DC50 and DC47, But Not the Price

We love us some Dyson.  And now we love them even more as the company improved their DC50 and DC47 vacuums.

Suction that never fails has long been the cornerstone of the company, as well as the focus of their ads.  The new DC50 now includes two banks of cyclones instead of one, resulting in greater suction.  And greater suction means sucking up more microscopic dust.  Dyson is calling this 2 Tier Radial, and while it may seem like a Gillette move (add more razors), it’s apparently taken three years and some serious research.  The DC50 still uses the same Dyson ball technology that makes navigating and pushing the upright vacuum much more easier than traditional vacuums of this ilk.   However, they have moved the motor into the head unit (the brush itself).  This makes for a much lower profile head unit and with that the ability to cleaner under lower surfaces, a feature that we noted in our review of the DC35.  And much like the DC35, the DC50 includes two types of bristles making it suitable for both carpet (soft bristles) or hardwood floors (carbon fiber), as well as a self adjusting base plate height.

The same changes can also be found in the DC47, the compact variant of the DC50.  According to Pocket-lint they’ll go on sale November 12th in the UK starting at about $520.  A variety of attachments are included in the price tag.  No word on when they’ll reach the US, but we expect them before year’s end.
