The DJ Fat Bike is ready to serve if you’re looking for the best electric fat bikes to tackle steep hills. But, could it be the best electric bike? It’s equipped with a motor that can peak at 1000W, which is some serious power that blends beautifully with the bike to help you blast to the top of steep and shallow inclines in no time.

Why We Like It – DJ Fat Bike

Fitted with a motor that peaks at 1000W and a battery that pumps out 60 miles on a single charge, the DJ Fat Bike is more than ready to tackle all kinds of hills, both steep and shallow. Of course, if you’re fine with getting 45 miles on one charge, read our RadWagon review.

Pros
  • Great performance on hills
  • 1000W peak power
  • Travels 60 miles on a single charge
Cons
  • Reaches 20mph, only with pedal assist

Durability & Build Quality

To complement the DJ Fat Bike’s immense power, the bike is built with a sporty, lightweight, yet strong stainless aluminum frame. It is further complemented with its front suspension fork, which does an admirable job of absorbing shock when you’re tackling gravel or sketchy terrain. For three more strong bikes made of either aluminum or steel, you’ll want to check out our reviews of the AddMotor Motan electric bike, ECOTRIC 20” new fat tire folding ebike, and the Cyclamatic Power Plus CX1 electric mountain bike.

Performance (Speed & Acceleration)

DJ Fat Electric Bikes are really solid on the road, capping at 20mph—but only if pedal assist is enabled; the Addmotor Motan caps at 23mph, for reference. That is intentional for legal reasons. More importantly, the 1000W peak power motor is excellent when tackling hills. So, if you like this bike, you won’t bother with the Yuba Boda Boda, which only goes 20mph.

Range & Battery

With a top speed of 20mph, and a lithium battery that can send you around the area for up to 60 miles on a single charge, it’s very easy to get up to 3 hours of battery life. It fluctuates based on terrain and what speed your 7-speed Shimano gear is set to.

Safety Features

The DJ Fat Mountain Bike makes several strides with safety features through its tires, disc brakes, and front headlight. They’re thick, grippy fat tires that add better balance and are all-purpose. However, if you want more safety options and a customer service feature, then you’ll want to look into the Grace MX review.

Value

With all things considered, dropping $1449 on the DJ Fat Bike sounds about right, and cheaper than the Emojo Electric Bike. The DJ Fat Bike features a high-quality build (comes in matte black only), in addition to an LCD display to keep track of metrics, and a fair amount of safety features. They aren’t the best e-bikes, but certainly fit under the umbrella of “affordable” and “budget”. For newcomers, the Aceshin 26 is only $600.

DJ Fat Bike Wrap Up

The DJ Fat Bike is a great asset for those wanting to shoot their way to the top of inclines. Its motor with 1000W peak power is more than capable of handling that. Capping out at 20mph with pedal assist is a bummer, but it’s that or it gets registered as a motorcycle. You still get 60 miles on a single charge regardless.
