Why We Like It – Cuisinart PerfecTemp 14 Cup Programmable DCC-3200
The Cuisinart PerfecTemp 14 Cup Programmable Coffee Brewer DCC-3200 can provide a good cup of coffee without sacrificing the coffee flavor. Speaking of flavor, add the best flavor to all the food you cook through the Pip and Ebby cooking and recipe app.
As far as coffee makers go, the Cuisinart DCC-3200 doesn’t stray far from the norm. It’s brewing process is pretty standard; extract coffee from the filter and drip into a carafe. When tested, the coffee was good, but not great. There’s strength settings, sure, but the simple fact of the matter is this: the coffee it makes is of average quality.
Even the Bodum BISTRO—a coffee maker of near equal affordability—made better coffee. We’re spoiled by the Moccamaster KB 741’s SCA certification, which the DCC-3200 lacks. Where the DCC-3200 shines is in its design.
Design-wise, the Cuisinart PerfecTemp 14 Cup Programmable DCC-3200 is your standard coffee machine; a stainless steel finish with a decently sized water reservoir. To save money, the Cuisinart DCC-3200 uses a glass carafe. It’ll keep your coffee hot, but not as well as a thermal carafe would. However, it makes a few smart design choices that make it stand out. Instead of paper water filters, you get a reusable gold toned coffee filter.
Temperature controls are available, if you prefer cooler or hotter coffee. There’s also a cup button to alter your preferred cup settings—even down to one cup. Included in its design are several additional buttons such as a self-clean button, a Brew Pause feature, and even brew strength control. It’s all very intuitive and easy to use, even with the additional features; toss coffee grounds into the filter, choose your setting, and start.
Unlike the OXO On Barista Brain 9 Cup Coffee Maker and Moccamaster KBG 741, the Cuisinart Coffee Maker is not SCA certified. That means this particular model doesn’t meet the Specialty Coffee Association’s golden standard. In fact, it shares a lot of similarities to the Bodum BISTRO Coffee Maker.
That doesn’t mean the Cuisinart DCC-3200 is bad and has no value—quite the contrary! As far as programmable coffee makers go, the Cuisinart PerfecTemp 14 Cup Programmable DCC-3200 fits perfectly as a budget coffee maker. It still makes really good coffee—just not great coffee. If you aren’t a coffee snob, you’ll find the value in that.
Cuisinart PerfecTemp 14 Cup Programmable DCC-3200 Wrap Up
While the Cuisinart PerfecTemp 14 Cup Programmable DCC-3200 isn’t SCA certified, it can still make a good cup of coffee—especially considering its price, which was further lowered by way of a cheaper, glass carafe. However, its gold tone filter and additional features—self-cleaning, cup settings, automatic shutdown, brew strength, and so on—make up for it.
