With comfortable faux leather earpads and a great audio quality, the Cowin E7 Active Noise Canceling Headphones stand out to potentially be the best over the ear headphones for the money. It packs in stereo speakers that provide you with both good high end and low end audio. And by being able to cancel out the audio outside to a great extent, it allows you to listen to your track without any interruption and without having to plug in thanks to the 30 hours long battery life.
Why We Like It – Cowin E7 Active Noise Cancelling Headphones
Offering you active noise cancelling at such low a price, the Cowin E7 Active Noise Cancelling Headphones stands out to be the audio choice for many people. With a nice design, comfy ear cups, a long battery life and NFC pairing capability, the Cowin E7 packs in both performance and convenience into a pair of headphones perfect for college students and those under a budget.
Apart from having such a long battery life, the Cowin E7 also charges up pretty fast, allowing you to get 1 hour of playtime with just 10 minutes of charge through the micro usb port. It even has a built-in NFC capability allowing you to easily connect your bluetooth headphones to your device, no matter if it’s Android or IOS. This is a great feature to have considering how headphones like the Mpow 059, which doesn’t have NFC or active noise cancelling, takes a considerable amount of time to pair to your device before you can listen to anything.
As for using the noise cancelling function, the Cowin E7 comes with two modes. While the bluetooth mode is just listening to the audio without any form of noise cancellation, the Noise cancelling mode allows you to cast away the sound outside and enjoy your audio to a greater extent. However, this pair of noise cancelling wireless headphones come with a drawback. That is, when noise cancellation is active, you will find the audio to have less low end sounds, making the sound flatter than it would be in bluetooth mode. On the other hand, while the audio in bluetooth mode is okay overall, with little leak of sound outside, the headphones simply fall behind when it comes to treble performance. This makes the sound quality to be more dark and muffled than what one would prefer.
Additionally, the Cowin E7 also comes with a mic as well as an audio cable. While the mic is decent and pretty good for video calls, the audio cable makes it possible for you to listen through your phone or media device even when the headphones are out of juice. As for the controls on the Cowin E7, you can pause/play, skip tracks and also adjust the volume control. And as a plus point you also get an LED indicator which can help to show whether the device is connected or whether the noise cancelling is enabled or even whether or not the headphones are completely charged.
Finally, the Cowin E7 Active noise cancelling headphones isn’t the best wireless headphones for gaming. With bluetooth 4.0 equipped it has a considerable amount of latency which would greatly affect your gameplay, but on the other hand if you connect the headphone via the auxiliary cable it performs pretty decently, with the additional mic to talk through.
While the Cowin E7 Pro has a similar design to the original Cowin E7, the E7 Pro does come with a much better carrying bag then the leather pouch you get with the E7. While it is pretty good for carrying the headphones, it most certainly doesn’t protect the headphone from damages, which is unfortunate. However, that being a slight compromise, the Cowin E7 does come with pretty comfortable faux leather ear cups. Fitting perfectly in your ears they do feel pretty good, but can cause you to feel uncomfortable during a workout. But, while they are pretty comfortable, sitting through long hours of listening through it can get uncomfortable which is the same as in the Mpow 059 and the Panasonic RP-HT161-K.
Apart from that, the Cowin E7 weighs 0.6 lbs and has 90 degree swivels with the ear cups which make it pretty good for both storing or putting them on more comfortably. As for the rest of the build, there’s little bit of metal and mostly plastic which doesn’t necessarily feel cheap.
Priced at around $70 in amazon com, the Cowin E7 Active Noise Cancelling is a great pair of headphones, providing you with Active noise cancelling at such low a price. And paired with its comfortable design, great functionality and a long battery life, the Cowin E7 is most definitely worth its price and surpasses the cheaper Mpow E9 in terms of sound quality, while costing less than more premium headphones.
