The Coway Airmega 300 is one of those air purifiers that guarantee that your indoor air quality stays relatively high, and with a room coverage that stands at 1,256 sq ft, it’s probably the best air purifier for anyone who has a large living space. At around $420, most people would consider the air purifier relatively expensive, but if you value ease of use, then some of its smart features might be well worth the extra bucks. Could it be the best smart air purifier for you? Let’s find out.

Why We Like It – Coway Airmega 300

Coway air purifiers are known for their exquisite build quality, and the Coway Airmega 300 isn’t anything different. It’s backed by an impressive 5-year warranty, and despite the lack of WiFi connectivity, it still remains a reliable unit that is sure to offer long-lasting service.

Pros
  • Efficient air quality monitoring & filter status indicator
  • Energy Star Certified
  • Impressive 5-Year Warranty
Cons
  • No WiFi connectivity for app support

Power/Speed

You’ll get up to 5 fan speed choices with the Coway Airmega air purifier, so you’ll have direct control over how exactly the unit does its job. Alternatively, you’ll also have the option to switch it into smart mode, and have it regulate the fan speed based on your room’s real-time air quality. Unlike the Coway Airmega 200M, the unit also boasts of a 3-stage filtration system, where it’s got a washable pre-filter that traps larger dust particles, and a set of Max2 filters that consist of a True HEPA filter that catches 99% of air particles, and an activated carbon filter gets rid of bad odors. This 3-stage filtration system is not as detailed as the one that you’ll find on the Rabbit Air Minusa2 Air Purifier, but then again, you’ll have to pay a bit more to enjoy the Minusa2’s elaborate process.

Efficiency

With a power consumption level that averages 56 watts, the Airmega 300 is pretty energy efficient, so you shouldn’t expect it to ramp up your electricity bill. In fact, just like the Airmega 400, the unit boasts of an Energy Star certification, making it a perfect option for anyone that might want to keep tabs on their energy costs. The smart air purifier has a timer that allows you to schedule it for 1, 2, 4, or 8 hours and a sleep mode that you can switch to if you need it quiet enough to function at night. That said, you’ll want to avoid reading our Air Oasis 1000 G3 review since it remains noisy at night.

Versatility

Unlike the Dyson TP04 Pure Cool, there’s a pollution sensor that allows for air quality monitoring, and through the colors on its LED ring, you’ll also be able to monitor air changes, and gauge how clean or dirty the air in your room is. Of course, you can’t do this with a portable unit, but the AVICHE Necklace Wearable Mini review is perfect for on-the-go air cleaning.

Unfortunately, the Airmega 300 does not have WiFi support, so by extension, it isn’t really app-enabled. On the positive side, though, the unit has a filter indicator on its control panel, so you will know whenever filter replacement for both the Green True HEPA air filter and the activated carbon filter is due.

Durability

Coway Airmega air purifiers have a solid reputation when it comes to reliability, just like the Blueair Classic 605, and this is why almost all of them are backed by a 5-year warranty policy. You will have to replace the True HEPA filter maybe once or twice per year, but since its pre-filters are washable, they’re very easy to maintain. For another durable air purifier, you’ll want to check out the Boneco Air Washer W200.

Value

The Max2 filter set that you’ll find with most Coway air purifiers combines Green True HEPA filter technology with an activated carbon filter, making the filter replacement process much more convenient. The Green True HEPA air filter is also quite different from the HEPA filter you’ll find on the Bissell Air Purifier, as it is made out of environmentally friendly materials, and has a unique property that destroys protein on the surface of viruses and bacteria.

Coway Airmega 300 Wrap Up

Going by the large number of customer reviews that have been left by users of the Airmega 300, it’s pretty easy to see how reliable it is, as well as how efficient it is at its functioning. It should be your pick if you’re looking for a unit that is easy to use and suitable for a large room.
