Looking to game on the couch? Your best option is a wireless keyboard. Of course, you want a high-performing one, something with fast response times. It also has to be rechargeable. You wouldn’t want to waste batteries on it. The best backlit keyboard to fit that description is the Corsair K63 Wireless Mechanical Gaming Keyboard.

Why We Like It – Corsair K63 Wireless Review

This wireless mechanical keyboard with Cherry MX switches is an ideal companion for gaming on the couch, thanks to its 20-hour battery life and compact design with Corsair’s mark of quality.

Pros
  • Cherry MX Red switches
  • 100% anti-ghosting w/ full key rollover
  • Compact in nature
Cons
  • Gaming lapboard accessory is separate
  • Only two colors available; no RGB lighting

Performance

There’s something so satisfying about Cherry MX Red switches—Cherry MX switches in general—so when you’re typing away on the Corsair K63, or gaming, it feels so good. Part of its success is with its 100% anti-ghosting and full key rollover. No matter what combination of keys you put in, every key will be registered. This compounds with the CUE software where you can create special macros.

You can enjoy this performance for up to 20 hours on a rechargeable battery. Battery life may sound short compared to the 4-6 month life span of an Arteck 2.4G Wireless Keyboard or that the Arteck HB030B slim doesn’t even have a battery indicator, but it’s important to understand this: the K63 is a high-performing keyboard. This is just like the GameSir VX AimSwitch, which is a high-performing keypad.

Design

Unlike the HP Wireless Elite keyboard V2, the Corsair K63 Wireless Mechanical Gaming Keyboard is compact, making it a great small gaming keyboard. Foregoing a number line the tenkeyless design, much as the keyboard Ninja has, shaves away a lot of length to 14.40 x 6.80 x 1.60 inches. The wrist rest is comfortable but nothing special. Since this wireless gaming keyboard is wireless, it does come with a wire for a wired connection. The ice blue looks great underneath the keys, as does the blue, but those are the only options for backlighting; it is not an RGB keyboard, whereas the KLIM Chroma Wireless Keyboard is.

One great accessory to complement its design is its gaming lapboard companion. If you like couch gaming in your living room or bedroom, the lapboard comes with a place for your mouse. Unfortunately, it’s sold separately.

Another brand with great keyboard designs is Logitech. You can find more with our reviews about the Logitech K400 Plus, Logitech Bluetooth illuminated keyboard K810, and the Logitech G915.

Value

Finding good wireless keyboards is tough. Finding great wireless mechanical keyboards, like the MaxKeyboard Nighthawk X9, is even harder. Because of the Corsair K63 Wireless Keyboard’s performance, it falls in the latter. The keys feel and sound so good. Those Cherry MX Red switches work overtime. And of course, its build quality is very high, a common trait among Corsair keyboards (and mice). We can say, without a doubt, that it has our seal of value. But if you’re concerned about price—it’s worth every penny—then a solid alternative would be a Redragon S101 Keyboard.

Corsair K63 Wireless Review Wrap Up

There’s very little wrong with the Corsair K63—and what is can be waved away. Lack of rainbow RGB? Doesn’t affect performance. Lack of lapboard? Not necessary. That leaves you with a very high-quality wireless keyboard that’s compact in nature, comes with Cherry MX red switches that sound great and respond beautifully, and has 100% ghosting and full key rollover. It’s more than ready for gaming.
