With the Commercial Chef CHM660B microwave oven, simplicity is the name of the game. One of the first things that you’ll be able to notice about it is the two rotary dial controls that are meant to regulate power and time respectively, stripping off everything else that you’d expect a modern microwave to feature. Although, it’s not quite a retro microwave that typically comes in various colors of soft blue or pink, or bright red and yellow.

Yet, this could probably be the easiest microwave to use, and this also makes it one of the best microwaves for college dorms if the cost is anything to go by. Sit tight as we take you some of the reasons why we think the Commercial Chef CHM660B may be the next kitchen appliance that you’ll buy.

Why We Like It – Commercial Chef CHM660B

Manufactured in the United States, the Commercial Chef CHM660B microwave is a perfect solution for anyone who is looking to get an appliance that isn’t too complicated to use, and is also pocket friendly.

  • Two rotary dials for controlling power & time
  • Low maintenance costs
  • 1 Year Warranty
  • No sensor cooking technology

Power & Performance

At 0.6 cubic feet, the Commercial Chef CHM660B countertop microwave may be small, but on the flip side, it doesn’t need too much power to get to work. This Commercial microwave oven has a power output of 600 Watts, which is pretty enough for light cooking. The countertop microwave has got 6 power levels to choose from, so as long as you know which power level to go for when reheating, softening butter, or defrosting, you’ll be good to go. If you need just a little bit of extra juice though, perhaps the 700 Watt COMFEE’ EM720CPL-PMB Countertop Microwave Oven might be worth a look. It’s slightly larger and features up to 11 power levels. The Frigidaire Built-in Microwave on the other hand is a high-powered microwave at 1200 Watts.

The black Commercial Chef CHM660B microwave is compact, well put together, and also quite light. The microwave doesn’t require a lot of attention to keep it clean & well maintained, and inside, it’s got a removable glass turntable that can be thrown into the dishwasher. It’s also got a stainless steel casing just like the Toshiba EM925A5A-BS, and this is important for microwaves because it helps make sure that microwave energy doesn’t get leaked out.

Ease of Use

Adjusting the cooking time and the power levels on the CHM660B countertop microwave is going to be very easy to do especially since you’ll only have two rotary dials to deal with. The one on the top has 6 different power levels, and the one on the bottom lets you time the cooking anywhere from 1 to 30 minutes. The microwave doesn’t have a digital LED display like the AmazonBasics microwave, but the two are similar in that they both spot a grab handle that’s used to open the door.

Added Features & Versatility

There’s not much in terms of added features to talk about regarding the CHM660B countertop microwave oven, as the microwave is actually designed to be as basic as can be. You’ll have to know which power level to set it to depending on the different cooking tasks that you may have for it. The lower power settings can be used to melt or soften butter or chocolate, the middle power levels can defrost your veggies or reheat food, and the higher settings can be used for heavy-duty tasks such as preparing frozen dinner.

The CHM660B Commercial chef microwave oven is only available in the color black, but we’re not complaining since it’ll still look good on any countertop. The microwave is also backed by a limited one-year warranty, so if your unit arrives with any problems, feel free to reach out to the customer service team at Commercial Chef, and your issue will be promptly sorted out.
