If you’re looking for a cheap way to take instant pictures, the IVY CLIQ Instant Camera is a brilliant choice over those expensive digital cameras with Wi-Fi. Just, point, shoot, and the camera will print photos, or send them to a memory card. The instant camera printer does a great job of capturing your moments on cheap Zink photo paper, which can stick anywhere with its peel-off backing. The IVY CLIQ made our best instant film camera list thanks to its compact size. You also may want to know how it compares to other best-selling digital cameras.

Why We Like It – Canon Ivy Cliq

The Canon IVY CLIQ is a colorful instant camera that uses Zink photo paper to put out pictures with great image quality. It comes in a wide range of colors like Lady Bug Red, Seaside Blue, and Bumblebee Yellow. It also has some fantastic features like a selfie mirror and MicroSD card reader. Unfortunately, the Mini Print app to edit pictures only works on the Ivy Cliq+ instant camera.

Pros
  • Instant photos
  • Memory card reader
  • Good Battery life
Cons
  • Average low-light pictures
  • Can only take pictures with Zink paper installed
  • Not compatible with Canon Mini-print app

Performance

Compared to many instant cameras, the Canon IVY offers great performance for its class. This camera printer uses Zink photo paper to produce images up to 5 MP. Due to the resolution, the Canon IVY CLIQ Instant only prints in either 2”x 3” or 2”x 2” mini prints, and isn’t compatible with the Canon Mini Print app. The IVY CLIQ instant camera also has a selfie mirror and reprint button so you can share your mini prints with lots of your friends. Many people found the Fujifilm Instax Mini 9 Instant Film to be a great rival to The CLIQ instant camera printer. As this is an instant film camera, you won’t be able to repair the flash as you would on a digital camera.

Design

Unlike the Solomark Night Vision Monocular, the CLIQ mini photo printer is one of the most compact instant cameras in the United States at only 4.8x 3.2 x 0.9-inches. It’s geared towards fun, especially with colors like Lady Bug Red, and Seaside Blue. Alternatively, if you’re fine with cameras that have limited colors but more features, check out our Olympus E-M10 Mark II.

The minimalist design features a small LED flash, as well as a tiny selfie mirror. There’s also an optical viewfinder, the shutter release button, aspect ratio button, and reprint button. The bottom of the camera is home to the micro USB charging port, reset hole, and microSD card slot. For another Zink camera, check out the Polaroid Snap Instant Digital Camera. Additionally, for even more instant film cameras, read our Leica Sofort review and our Dragon Touch InstantFun camera review.

Value

Instant cameras aren’t for professional pictures and are more for fun pictures and novelty value. The Canon IVY delivers decent quality images in 5 MP and allows users to print them, as well as save them for later. You can even use the reprint button if you want to share that group picture with your friends. The Zink photo paper is also quite affordable and cheaper than its rivals. This camera offers excellent value for money and is a fantastic alternative to the Kodak PRINTOMATIC.

Canon Ivy Cliq Wrap Up

The Canon IVY comes at a very affordable price and allows you to print your photos instantly and share them with friends or family. It also allows you to store them for later thanks to the memory card reader. It’s not compatible with the Canon Mini Print app, but for a basic camera, it works well.
