The Boss Office Products Ergonomic Works Drafting Chair is a drafting stool with a simplistic, no-nonsense design and an appealing price tag. It’s made of heavy-duty fabric with a nylon base, and though it has an integrated footrest, the armrests cost extra. For its price, it’s one of the best drafting chairs, but it’s a difficult value proposition depending on what features you’re looking for in a chair. If you want to keep looking, our review of the best office chair is a great place to start.
The Boss Office Products Ergonomic Works Drafting Chair is a decently priced office chair with a solid ratio of quality and price. The fact armrests cost extra is disappointing, but overall it’s a solid product for the money.
Support is lacking on this chair for one single reason–by default, it’s a drafting chair without arms. Though this does make it come in at a lower price than some other mid-range office chairs, it means you have to pay extra if you need arm support of any kind. Beyond that, though, the chair functions fine; the curved back provides lumbar support, and the footrest works well enough given the chair sits so high.

Thanks to its curved design and flexible back, the Boss Office Products Ergonomic Works Drafting Chair provides a comfortable sitting experience. The footrest helps alleviate the fact the chair sits very high, though it might be uncomfortable for taller people since the footrest also sits up high. The chair’s base can be a bit wobbly, but that doesn’t impact comfort much at all. If you’re coming from a bar stool, chances are you’ll like this chair, as it sits at a similar height.

The Boss Office Products Ergonomic Works Drafting Chair is a bit lacking in adjustability. The footrest is locked into place, the flexible back doesn’t go back far enough, and by default, it doesn’t come with arms; of the arms, you can buy for it, only one of the two is adjustable. It’s at least height-adjustable, though customer reviews often complain that the chair sits a bit too high. If adjustability is a need, you’d be better served with the Harwick Evolve Heavy, which blows this chair out of the water thanks to a more flexible design. Do note, however, that it costs over $100 more. Although, if you want another adjustable chair that’s budget-friendly, you’ll want to read our Comhoma ergonomic mesh office chair.
Despite not using mesh, breathability is solid enough; it employs a curved design and has a small back, making it perform decently enough despite being made of sub-optimal material. That said, you’d be better off with the Modway Veer Drafting Chair if you constantly sit in a hot room; it goes for a similar price ($231.00), and it’s made of mesh rather than cloth.
Like many, many products on the market, value is where the Boss Office Products Ergonomic Works Drafting Chair struggles. The Modway Veer Drafting Chair is better overall for a similar price, while the Flash Furniture Mid-Back Black Mesh Ergonomic Drafting Chair offers nicer material (mesh) and integrated armrests for less money than this chair does. As far as drafting chairs go, you can do better for the money if you need anything the Boss Office Products Ergonomic Drafting Chair lacks.
The Boss Office Products Ergonomic Works Drafting Chair is a decent but unexceptional chair. Though it sits at an appealing price point, annoying shortcomings such as armrests costing extra prevent it from being a definitive buy, as related products compete very strongly against it. If you can live with its shortcomings (or you’re willing to shell out extra for the armrests, provided you want armrests to begin with) it’s a solid buy, but its competition is very fierce even in its attractive price bracket.
