The world of Bluetooth speakers just got a little more competitive with the introduction of the Bose SoundLink Color II Bluetooth Speaker. Considered one of the best Bluetooth speakers, it boasts excellent sound quality (traditional of Bose), newly-integrated voice prompts, and an IPX4 Water Resistance for shower or pool-side listening.
The Bose SoundLink Color II Bluetooth Speaker continues Bose’s proud tradition of producing quality audio products with great sound quality. The SoundLink Color II does fall on some hard times in performance and design, but it’s nothing that should diminish its title as an outstanding Bluetooth speaker. And at only $130, it’s an investment worth making. At the same price range, you could also look at the Bose Soundlink Color Bluetooth speaker review. If you prefer a speaker that you can see through, take a look at our review of the transparent speaker too.
Like the original SoundLink Color and the SoundLink Mini, the Bose SoundLink Color II offers great sound and an excellent dynamic range for a portable Bluetooth speaker of its size. When comparing it to the JBL Charge 4, our pick for one of the best Bluetooth speakers, the Bose can stand on its own, but it will struggle. The JBL Charge is a lot heavier and bulkier, though. Bottom line, if you want a room-filling speaker, go with the JBL Charge 3. If you want something portable that still sounds great, the SoundLink Color II is a great choice.
Unlike the TaoTronics TT-SK018, the Bose Soundlink Color II comes in a variety of colors like polar white, soft black, aquatic blue, and coral red. New to the Bose SoundLink Color II is the ability to use voice prompts. Simply press and hold the multifunction button at the top of the Bose SoundLink Color II to activate the voice assistant. Make sure you download the Bose Connect app to get started and unlock the full potential of your device. The SoundLink Color II Bose may earn additional props for its almost 30-foot connection range. The Anker Soundcore offers an unheard-of 66-foot range, but they are an exception to the rule. In case you want a slightly compact Bose speaker that weighs 1.5 pounds, opens the Bose Soundlink Mini II review.
One of the biggest downsides to the Bose SoundLink Color II is its measly 8 hours of battery life. While this should last you throughout the day without a problem, below average by Bluetooth speaker standards. However, it does have an IPX4 Water Resistance rating, so taking it into the shower to belt out your favorite tunes should be cool. If you want something a bit heavier on water resistance to be safe, try the Oontz Angle 3 Bluetooth Speaker. If you want something even more portable than the already most portable Bluetooth speaker, the SoundLink Micro offers classic Bose sound quality in an even smaller design.
The Bose SoundLink Color II Bluetooth Speaker is an excellent, portable speaker that will give you the sound you want wherever you want to go. Just make sure you have it charged, or bring the charger with you. Yes, this seems like a big oversight from Bose, but shouldn’t the defining feature of a Bluetooth speaker be its ability to produce great sound?
