During our research, we first focused our efforts on identifying the top considerations and features to look for. These include display quality (not just size!), overall performance, and the quality of additional features like camera quality and durability. You should buy a phone that feels comfortable in your hand while still providing the protection of water and drop resistance. We also recommend purchasing a phone with more processing power so you can get the smoothest and most reliable performance on your large screen.

With these aspects in mind, we picked the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra as our top pick for the best large-screen phone. Keep reading below to learn more about this amazing phablet. You can also compare it with the best smartphone to see how it stacks up.

Top 10 Large Screen Phones

#1  Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra Large Screen Phone

WHY WE LIKE IT: This large-screen phone offers the best of mobile technology with a gorgeous display, revolutionary camera, and extra-fast internal processor. The included S Pen also helps this phone come closer than ever to completely replacing the need for any other device in your life.

  • Responsive 120Hz display
  • S Pen stylus for power users
  • Long-lasting 4500 mAh battery
  • Rear camera bump is annoyingly large
  • Curved display encourages accidental actions

The Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra offers a ton of functionality and features for power users, casual users, and phone enthusiasts alike. For starters, it comes out of the gate with a beautiful 6.9-inch display that will certainly wow you the first time you power it on. This AMOLED display features a 3088 x 1440 pixel resolution and an amazing 120Hz refresh rate, making scrolling and general operation smoother than anything you’ve experienced. This is a curbed display as well, which looks really sleek. However, be aware that the curved edges can sometimes lead to increased accidental screen taps, though not enough to detract from the overall quality. Speaking of quality, check out our review of the best iPhone.

The Note 20 Ultra doesn’t just feature an amazing display. You’ll also get a powerful Snapdragon 865 Plus processor, one of the fastest in Android phones. You’ll also get either 128GB, 256, or 512GB of internal storage, with the option to expand up to 1TB with a microSD card. One of our favorite features of this phablet is the included S Pen stylus, a long-time staple of the Galaxy Note series. This best stylus mimics the feel of a pen on paper and improves efficiency in note-taking and navigation, making it the perfect addition for power users. You’ll also get next-gen camera technology with the Note 20 Ultra. It features a triple-camera array on the rear with 108 megapixels of still image quality. The best feature of the camera, though, is the 50x super-resolution zoom, which allows you to take clear pictures from a long distance away.

#2  Apple iPhone 11 Pro Max Large Screen Phone

WHY WE LIKE IT: On top of an extra-large 6.5-inch OLED display, this large-screen phone features a truly seamless user experience, an ultra-fast processor, and excellent camera quality. Plus, it offers a truly premium ecosystem with other Apple products, which is hard to beat.

  • OLED display is bright and colorful
  • Blazing-fast A13 Bionic chipset
  • Excellent Night Mode camera functionality
  • Limited internal storage options
  • Limited color options

The Apple iPhone 11 Pro Max is the result of over 10 years of refinement and fine-tuning. It currently offers the largest iPhone display, measuring 6.5 inches. But size isn’t the only thing the display has going for it. You’ll also get a super crisp, colorful, and detailed picture quality on the OLED display, dubbed as the Super Retina XDR display. Plus, the iPhone’s display is tougher than previous generations, and the overall phone offers IP68 water and dust resistance for an even more durable product.

One of the biggest selling points of purchasing an iPhone today is the overall user-friendliness and seamless ecosystem that Apple has created. The 11 Pro Max continues that same legacy. With Apple’s fastest processor to date – the A13 Bionic – this iPhone operates incredibly smoothly. Everything is responsive, and you’ll hardly experience any stuttering or lag when opening apps or switching between different apps. We were also impressed by the camera quality of the 11 Pro Max. It can take clear, crisp photos and record 4K videos. However, the best feature on the camera is the new Night Mode, which outperforms every other smartphone available today when it comes to taking pictures or video in low-light situations. When it comes to internal storage, you’ll get a disappointing base storage option of 64GB, but you can pay extra to get more if you need it. It’s one of the best low-light camera phones on our list.

#3  Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Large Screen Phone

WHY WE LIKE IT: This large-screen phone offers a more affordable option to get high-end functionality when compared to other options in this company’s premium handset lineup. With the included S Pen stylus, super-fast processor, and extra-large display, this phone was made with power users in mind.

  • Camera offers next-gen functionality
  • Sleek, attractive design
  • Fast performance with Snapdragon 865+ processor
  • Disappointing 60Hz refresh rate
  • Average battery life

In Samsung’s recent lineup of flagship phones, you’ll find an extra-wide variety of different options that carry the same model name but with a Plus or Ultra tacked on at the end. The Samsung Galaxy Note 20 is the base model of the Note series, but that doesn’t mean it holds back. It doesn’t offer all the bells and whistles of the Plus or Ultra models, but it still works incredibly well for power users at a much more affordable price. For starters, you’ll get one of the most powerful processors available on the market today, the Snapdragon 865 Plus, which makes the phone snappy and responsive. Plus, the extra-large AMOLED display offers a 2400 x 1080 pixel resolution. Unfortunately, it’s only a 60Hz display, which means it doesn’t look as smooth as the more premium versions. However, the display still looks great with bright colors and full HD resolution.

Note 20 is designed well and still includes the incredibly handy S Pen stylus. With this additional tool, you can use this phablet to take notes and navigate more easily through the user interface, making it the best option for smartphone power users. You’ll also get Samsung’s popular camera array, with triple lenses and excellent zoom functionality. With a 64MP telephoto lens, you’ll be able to take pictures from afar and get amazingly crisp results. Note 20 comes with 128GB of internal storage, which is more than enough for most users. Unfortunately, you won’t get any expandable storage options with this phone. This phablet is also durable, with IP68 water and dust resistance, a strong metal frame, and tough matte glass. It’s a great option if you want the best waterproof phones with a large screen.

#4  Apple iPhone 11 Pro Large Screen Phone

WHY WE LIKE IT: This premium large-screen phone offers a completely seamless user experience with a simple operating system, a larger ecosystem, and a design that fits well in your hand. Plus, you’ll get a super-fast processor and a stunning camera array for even more functionality.

  • Excellent triple-camera design
  • A13 Bionic chipset is fast and responsive
  • Amazing Super Retina XDR display
  • Higher storage costs extra
  • Lacking headphone jack

The Apple iPhone 11 Pro is one of the most user-friendly smartphones your money can buy today. Apple prides itself on creating a single line of phones (with minimal variations between different versions) that are incredibly easy to use and fit seamlessly within the broader Apple device ecosystem. The 11 Pro is no different. Featuring the latest iOS software and the snappy A13 Bionic internal processor, this smartphone works well for anyone, regardless of their previous experience with smartphones. Plus, the phone is designed in a way that’s easier to hold and operate, even one-handed. The iPhone features tough glass on the display and a solid metal frame for added durability.

The iPhone 11 Pro also features a truly amazing triple-lens camera array. The three different lenses give you standard, wide, and extra-wide perspectives and 12 megapixels of still image quality. You’ll also be able to record 4K videos with this iPhone. Moreover, the 11 Pro includes Apple’s new Night Mode, which propels this option far ahead of the competition regarding low-light photography and videography. When it comes to internal storage, you may be a little disappointed, since the 11 Pro only offers a base of 64GB with options to upgrade for more money. You’ll also find the lack of expandable storage disappointing here. However, with the built-in ecosystem, you’ll be able to easily store extra photos in iCloud or on another device to lighten the load on your smartphone. It’s a great choice if you’re in the market for one of the best cell phones for seniors.

#5  Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra Large Screen Phone

WHY WE LIKE IT: Built from the ground up with premium quality in mind, this large-screen phone will blow you away as soon as you unbox it and power it on. From its high-tech camera to its 120Hz display to its IP68 water resistance, this phone redefines the meaning of a premium smartphone.

  • 108MP camera with 100x zoom
  • 120Hz display is smooth, responsive
  • Super-fast 5G network speeds
  • Heavier than comparable smartphones
  • Battery performance can be inconsistent

The Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra is by far one of the most advanced and premium models of large-screen smartphones available today. It’s designed inside and out with quality in mind. This phone features the latest Snapdragon 865 Plus processor, which creates an ultra-responsive experience, no matter what you’re doing on your phone. Plus, its design is incredibly sleek and attractive, which is sure to turn heads whenever you pull it out of your pocket. The display features a 3200 x 1440 pixel resolution and 120Hz motion handling. This results in an extra-smooth experience that looks unreal.

The camera on this powerful phablet is also something worth noting. You’d be hard-pressed to find a better camera on a smartphone. You get a whopping 108MP sensor on the rear triple-camera array with a 10x lossless zoom functionality and truly cutting-edge 100x Space Zoom. You’ll also be able to shoot videos in up to 8K resolution at 24 frames per second. We were also impressed that Samsung included 5G connectivity in this phone, so you’ll get blazing-fast network speeds when using your carrier’s wireless network. With all of these extra features and functionalities, though, you may experience some inconsistency with battery life performance. While the S20 Ultra features a large 5000 mAh battery, it doesn’t always give you the same amount of battery life from day to day, depending on what you’re using. Bring along the best portable charger just to be safe.

#6  OnePlus 8 Pro Large Screen Phone

WHY WE LIKE IT: With an absolutely gorgeous display that offers 120Hz of motion handling and accurate, bright colors, this large-screen phone is the best option for those who love to game and watch movies on their mobile devices. Plus, it features a fast internal processor and 5G connectivity for faster network speeds.

  • Smooth, 120Hz motion handling
  • Fast and reverse wireless charging
  • 5G-capable antenna
  • Camera offers disappointing zoom quality
  • No microSD card slot

The OnePlus 8 Pro is the best OnePlus flagship phone to date. It takes most of the best from previous generations, improves upon them, and adds new functionality that propels this option forward in the running. The best part about the OnePlus 8 Pro is its display. Featuring a beautiful QHD+ resolution (3168 x 1440 pixels) with a 120Hz refresh rate and HDR10+ support, this smartphone is the best choice for movie lovers and gamers alike. Plus, with the added 5G connectivity options, you’ll be able to stream your favorite movies and shows from anywhere you get cell service, and they will look just as good on your phone as they do on your big-screen TV at home.

This large-screen phone doesn’t take performance lightly either. It features the Snapdragon 865 processor, which isn’t as fast as the Plus version but still offers plenty of snappy response time and smooth overall operation. The OnePlus 8 Pro also just looks and feels good in your hand. It’s got a premium finish and even features IP68 water and dust resistance, which is a first for the OnePlus flagship phone lineup. We were most impressed with the 8 Pro’s wireless charging capabilities. It features fast wireless charging, but reverse wireless charging as well. This means your phone can act as a wireless charging mat for your other mobile devices. It’s a great option if you’re looking for one of the best gaming phones with a large screen.

#7  Xiaomi Mi Note 10 Lite Large Screen Phone

WHY WE LIKE IT: This large-screen phone is an excellent mid-range option from a Chinese manufacturer due to its 5260 mAh battery and subsequent long-lasting battery performance. Plus, its display is better than anything else in this range, with brighter and more vivid colors overall.

  • Incredibly fast charge times
  • Amazing quality on 108MP camera
  • Impressive display performance
  • Disappointing processor speeds
  • Some Bluetooth connectivity issues

The Xiaomi Mi Note 10 Lite is a solid mid-range option when it comes to large-screen smartphones. While it doesn’t offer as much performance or functionality as some of the most premium (and most expensive) smartphones, it holds its own well. This is especially true when it comes to battery life and camera quality. The Xiaomi Mi Note 10 Lite was the first smartphone to offer a 108-megapixel camera sensor, and it still outperforms many of the newer options that are doing the same now. The phone can take amazing shots, both still images, and video. This is the phone to get if you’re looking for an excellent camera.

The battery life is another area where the Mi Note 10 Lite really shines. It features a powerful 5260 mAh battery, which is larger than you’ll find in most other large-screen phones. As such, it can also produce the longest battery life of any of the phones we analyzed. However, be aware that if you’re using the phone with everything enabled, you may not experience this long battery life. The display is better than it has any right to be. It only offers a 2340 x 1080 pixel resolution, but it’s brighter and more colorful than any other displays in this range. We were also impressed with the Mi Note’s fast charging times due to its included 30W fast charger. You’ll get a full charge in a few short hours, which is truly amazing. It’s one of the best Chinese smartphones on our list.

#8  Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 Large Screen Phone

WHY WE LIKE IT: A foldable design and massive display size are the two hallmarks of this incredibly innovative and unique large-screen phone. However, it also offers more than just gimmicks with tablet-mode apps and impressive multi-tasking performance.

  • Amazing multi-tasking capabilities
  • Durable design prevents damage
  • Bigger tablet-mode apps
  • Much heavier than other phones
  • No IP water resistance rating

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 is absolutely the most unique and innovative smartphone available today. As you can assume from the phone’s name, this is a foldable smartphone with a dual-display design that gives you nearly eight inches of screen size. This is the biggest phablet your money can buy, but be aware that you’ll be paying quite a bit for it. It also includes a third cover screen that you can use as you would with a normal-sized smartphone when the phone is folded up. With this unique foldable design and extra-large display size, this is closer to a tablet than an actual phone.

The good part about that is the fact that it also performs much like a tablet. When the phone is completely open, the apps are displayed in tablet mode, which leads to larger working spaces and more features available at your fingertips without needing to dig around in the menus. You’ll also get enhanced multi-tasking functionality with side-by-side configuration. The Galaxy Z Fold 2 offers the latest in processing power with its Snapdragon 865 Plus processor, which means none of these enhanced functionalities will slow the phone down. There are some downsides to consider here, though, mainly the fact that the phone isn’t water-resistant. It’s also much heavier than other smartphones. However, these are small tradeoffs in order to get such cutting-edge functionality. You might also be interested in the best gaming tablets for similar options.

#9  OnePlus Nord N200 Large Screen Phone

WHY WE LIKE IT: This large-screen phone offers excellent overall performance for a mid-range offering, including fast 5G connectivity and a premium design quality that’s hard to beat. Plus, you’ll get a beautiful 90Hz display and great camera performance.

  • 90Hz display is smooth and bright
  • Designed with premium-level quality
  • Excellent, comprehensive camera functionality
  • Middling battery life
  • Not rated for water resistance

The OnePlus Nord smartphone lies squarely in the mid-range category. It’s not as powerful or expensive as the premium flagship options, but it provides a ton of functionality for its mid-range affordability. The first thing you’ll notice about the OnePlus Nord is its design. It mirrors the design you see in OnePlus’s flagship lineup, with some differences in the materials used. The phone is mostly plastic but features Gorilla Glass 3 on the front, which is nice to see from a durability standpoint. One of the biggest misses here is the lack of water resistance.

We were pleased with the overall performance of the OnePlus Nord. Its display is the biggest selling point. It’s bright and offers 90Hz motion handling, so everything feels smooth as you scroll through apps or play mobile games. We were also impressed by the camera array. It features a quad-lens camera on the back that includes a unique monochrome lens for black and white photos specifically. The camera can record 4K videos, and the UI is simple to use and learn. All in all, if you want to save a little money but still get premium functionality, the OnePlus Nord is an excellent choice for anyone in the market for the best 5G phones without breaking the bank.

#10  Moto G Power Large Screen Phone

WHY WE LIKE IT: If you want a large screen and plenty of capable performance without spending an arm and a leg, then this is the smartphone for you. It features an incredibly long-lasting 5000 mAh battery and compatibility with all carriers for ultimate versatility.

  • Stellar battery life
  • Solid performance on a budget
  • Compatible with all carrier networks
  • Screen isn’t as colorful as other phones
  • Camera doesn’t offer any zoom

The Moto G Power is one of the best cheap large-screen phones available on the market today. And while it doesn’t offer all of the cutting-edge tech and performance of the premium flagship options available today, it still holds its own really well. The biggest selling point of the Moto G Power is its battery life. It features a powerful 5000 mAh battery that’s capable of lasting you around 16 total hours with average use. This is the best battery life we’ve seen on large-screen phones to date. Plus, it offers pretty decent performance with its Snapdragon 665 processor.

The Moto G Power’s display is another big selling point. It offers a 2300 x 1080 pixel resolution, so you’ll still get full HD quality. The colors are a little muted, especially compared to more premium phones, but they still look good. We were also impressed with the Moto’s camera performance. It doesn’t offer any kind of optical zoom, but the triple-lens camera still gives you clear shots and detailed video. All in all, you can’t go wrong with the Moto G Power large-screen phone, especially if you need to save a little money. It’s great if you’re looking for the best phones for kids with a large screen.

How We Decided

The first consideration we made when ranking the best large-screen phones was screen size. We didn’t include any options with displays smaller than six inches (or within a couple of tenths of an inch). We awarded bonus points to phones with larger displays that didn’t sacrifice overall display quality. We preferred phones with 4K display resolution, but still included only full HD options.

Next, we looked at the overall design and durability. While we don’t expect large-screen phones to fit well in one hand or be used one-handed, we made award points based on easily holding the phone and using it without awkwardness. Phones that were designed specifically with ergonomics and a firm grip in mind were rated higher. We also preferred smartphones with durable glass and frames since the chances of dropping larger phones are much higher.

Finally, we considered the overall performance. It can take a lot of processing power to run phones with larger displays. As such, we ranked phones higher if they included the latest and greatest processors since they run much smoother overall. If you want to use the large screen to watch some movies, check out our guide on connecting a Bluetooth speaker to a phone to ensure the sound is great as well.

Best Large Screen Phone Buyer’s Guide

When shopping for the biggest phone screen in 2023, take into consideration just how big of a phone screen you need. Tiny, small flip phones are no longer in style, and finding the biggest screen phone can almost be a nightmare. For instance, do you know what phone has the biggest screen? It’s more than looking at a big screen phone and eyeballing it and more about knowing the actual specifications.

We do our best to bring you reviews of phones with big screens. However, comparing the biggest display a smartphone can have against other large screen mobile phones are what will help you find the right one. Let’s dive in.

The Most Important Features to Consider

  1. Display Size and Quality
If you’re in the market for large-screen mobile phones, then the overall display size and quality will obviously be the first point of importance.
    • The best big screen phones typically offer at least six inches of real estate, but there is some wiggle room on the low end of the scale.
    • Due to this, these large screen smartphones are often also referred to as phablets (as in phone-slash-tablet). However, just because you’re getting the largest phone screen doesn’t automatically mean you’ll also be getting a high resolution.
    • To get the most out of a phone with the biggest screen, you’ll want to look for phones that offer a minimum of full HD resolution.
    • In short, while shopping for the largest phone screen in 2023, keep in mind that the biggest display smartphones won’t always have the best resolution.
  2. Performance
With a larger phone display, you’ll be more likely to notice stuttering and lagging during day-to-day operations. Plus, there’s just more processing that needs to be done on the phone’s side.
    • This is why purchasing a large-screen phone with a powerful internal processor is important. The addition of an always-on display and a larger battery means that you’ll be getting a much more powerful phone without sacrificing battery life.
    • Phone processors come in all shapes and sizes, but most large-screen phones are also flagship phones, which means they’ll often ship with the latest and greatest internal components.
    • This means they will often include high-end features, security patches, and excellent battery life that can keep up with the demands of modern users.
  3. Durability
Large-screen phones are, of course, bigger than their smaller displayed counterparts, which can lead to difficulty holding them securely in your hand.
    • This is why the boxy design of a 6.7-inch screen phone prevents users from easily holding it in one hand. More often, large-screen phones require the use of both hands to operate effectively.
    • They also have more surface area on the display glass that can get scratched or cracked.
    • As such, you’ll want to be sure you purchase an option with added durability. This can come in the form of tougher glass, a metal chassis, and water and dust resistance.
  4. Camera
If you’re purchasing a phablet, it’s likely due to the fact that you want more functionality and features for your money. Consider the phone’s camera quality in your buying decision. If you’re carrying such a large phone, it’s unlikely that you’ll also want to carry around additional devices, if at all possible. Most phablets offer fantastic cameras, but they do vary widely. Consider both still image quality and video recording capabilities so you can get a device that meets your specific needs when it comes to photography and videography.
