WHY WE LIKE IT: The best all-around choice for both intermediate and professional users and beginners looking for their first serious camera at a medium price range, it features excellent image resolution, HD video capture, and advanced still and video autofocus with a design easy to use for all levels of experience.
The Fujifilm X-T30 or Fujifilm x-t3 is a full-frame digital camera with a high-performance back-illuminated 26.1MP sensor. It produces richly detailed, professional-quality images for most uses (though not at the resolutions typical of medium-format models) and can capture 4K/30FPS video with high-resolution 24bit digital sound, making it an excellent all-around tool for both digital media professionals and filmmakers. Its advanced, high-speed autofocus technology works for both still and video, and its compact build and simple design make it easy to use for both beginners and professionals. It doesn’t produce the large, 50MP images of most medium format cameras, and the lack of 60FPS video means some filmmakers won’t find it suitable for their needs. But for a high-performing, easy-to-use, lightweight, and tank-like magnesium alloy camera, it’s a top choice for a wide range of users. For better filmmaking capabilities, you’ll want to go for the best digital camera for filmmaking.

Award: BEST VERSATILITY
WHY WE LIKE IT: A super hi-res viewfinder, Quad-core image processing software, weather-sealed design, HD & Ultra HD video in a compact, feature-rich package that excels at a wide range of uses.
The Fujifilm X100V is a feature-rich digital camera with a 26.1MP back-illuminated sensor for high detail, rich still images, and impressive 4K/60FPS and 1080p/120FPS video capture ability. Its hi-res, large viewfinder is fully tiltable and allows for easy shot composition, while its powerful quad-core image processor brings multiple shooting modes and film simulation filters.
Though its compact, weather-sealed design makes it comfortable and durable for long shoots in rough conditions, it comes with a higher learning curve than some similar Fujifilm models, and its price point may make it less practical for semi-professional use. But it’s a high-performing, durable, and very modern option for professionals who need versatility and top-quality results.
Award: BEST LARGE SENSOR
WHY WE LIKE IT: Professional-grade 50mp images with multiple options for digital interfacing, monitoring, and transferring, making it a great choice for digital media professionals.

Its durable, light, and highly weather/dust/moisture resistant magnesium alloy construction is greatly augmented by multiple nonstandard digital connectivities and functionality features including an HDMI port, dual high-speed UHS-II card slots, and a Rangefinder-style LCD viewfinder and matched monitor that allow for more precise framing than many top models
Its plethora of digital features presents a higher learning curve and slightly higher price point than some DSLR cameras, making it possibly a less suitable choice for professionals who only deal with shooting and not multimedia digital production. But its extremely high image quality, secure and durable build, and extremely modern variety of features make it a perfect choice for multimedia professionals and graphic designers who need top-shelf results in the best mirrorless camera Fujifilm offers.
Award: BEST FOR BEGINNERS
WHY WE LIKE IT: Lightweight, colorful, and compact design, an extra-large, intuitive LCD screen offering multiple shooting modes and filters, and great low light performance make it a perfect choice for beginners looking for near-professional results.
The Fujifilm X-A7 is a lightweight and compact digital camera with a colorful, stylish look and a 24MP CMOS sensor, and an extra-large, fully-tiltable LCD screen with simple, intuitive, but full-featured controls. Despite its pared-down, easy-to-use design, it captures 4K, 30FPS video using the same size data stream as 6K video cameras for even more detailed and low-distortion UltraHD images than many similar models.
Its advanced Face/Eye detection autofocus makes it especially easy to capture subjects with little fuss even in fast-moving action, although at 24 megapixels, its still images are slightly lower resolution than some similar models in Fujifilm’s line. However, its exceptional video performance, simple but feature-rich controls including multiple shooting modes and film-look filters, and compact, lightweight design make it the best Fujifilm camera for beginners. Its titanium alloy body offers 10 times the durability of stainless steel at a fraction of the weight, with weather sealing that offers extra protection from the elements in rough shooting conditions.
In addition to a 26.1MP back-illuminated sensor and 4K, 60FPS video shooting, an ingenious hideable LCD screen allows for obstruction-free shooting when desired. Award: BEST ON A BUDGET

Its reflection-free LCD screen, Optical image stabilization technology, numerous zoom options including a 10x optical zoom lens, high-speed continuous shutter still shooting capacity, and other precision features combined with built-in WiFi and mobile device connectivity make it another feature-rich workhorse at a very modest price point. The Fujifilm XF10 is a truly pocket-sized but full-featured digital compact camera with a 24.2MP APS-C CMOS sensor and 4K/30FPS video capture for professional digital media-quality images and filmmaking. Its low energy use design allows for long battery life and up to 30 minutes of continuous video per charge, and the incredibly light 9.8oz build allows for take-anywhere portability.
Features like Bluetooth and mobile app connectivity and exceptional low-light, high-ISO range performance make it a versatile and flexible option for capturing spontaneous moments, but with its extremely light, compact build comes somewhat less durability than many models in Fujifilm’s line. But for digital media professionals and hobbyists on the go, it’s the finest travel camera.
We looked at both Fujifilm’s full-frame cameras and medium format digital cameras (DSLR) designed for high-performance at price points aimed at casual photographers looking to purchase their first serious digital cameras, to high-performance cameras made for professional still photographers, to cameras made with filmmakers in mind. We favored cameras that were easy and intuitive to use but also included advanced features like optical zoom, and image stabilizing.
We also liked Fuji cameras with removable viewfinders, touchscreen LCD displays, directional tilting, and high or medium rigidity with alloy bodies. We also liked modern features like back-illuminated sensors and ergonomic grips for comfortable, safe handling over long shoots. For the leading 3D cameras and point-and-shoot cameras for birding, you’ll have to read our other articles.
Finally, we preferred DSLR cameras that created 16-bit images with a minimum of 20 megapixels that had excellent color fidelity, shadow detail, and dynamic range for producing lifelike images even after web compression. We favored lenses, sensors, and processors with microscopic seals that are protected from dust, dirt, wind, and moisture even in the most extreme climates and situations. We did not include the best Fujifilm Instax cameras in this list.
