Award: TOP PICK
WHY WE LIKE IT: Features a 48V 750-watt brushless rear hub motor that can go up to 23 MPH, with a lithium-ion battery that can ride for up to 55 miles per charge and a sturdy rear rack for transporting groceries and other items.
The Addmotor Motan electric bike is a good choice for heavy riders, thanks to a powerful 750-watt motor that can handle some inclines and reach a maximum speed of 23 miles per hour. We loved the high-grade lithium battery, which is both removable and allows for up to 55 miles per charge, and the durable rear rack. This rack is perfect for hauling groceries as you complete errands around town.
Though this electric bike can accommodate weights of more than 300 pounds, just like the best adult tricycle, it is designed for tall riders, so it will not support riders less than 5’10”. Also, it requires a fair bit of assembly upon receipt, though instructions and tools are included. For women, explore ebike options in our best e bikes for women guide.
Award: BEST AESTHETICS
WHY WE LIKE IT: Available in three gorgeous colors, with 750w geared hub motor, a 350 lb load capacity, and a 48v lithium-ion battery that can get up to 45 miles on a single charge.
The Rad Power Bikes RadWagon 4 is a gorgeous electric bike that is available in three aesthetically pleasing paint jobs. We loved the 750-watt geared hub motor, which does a great job at accelerating and climbing steep hills, and the lithium-ion battery that gets up to 45 miles on a single charge. The max load here is 350 pounds, and the telescoping seat post can accommodate rider heights from 5’1” to 6’4”.
Rad created their own custom tires for this bike, and we found them to be excellent for road riding and light off-roading. However, their relatively small size means they may not excel with rough terrains. Also, the integrated brake light, which automatically shines whenever the brakes are accessed, could stand to be a bit brighter. Make sure to read our buying guide on the best electric road bike.
Award: BEST DISPLAY
WHY WE LIKE IT: Features a large full-color LCD display that relays a number of useful metrics, in addition to a reliable double-disc hydraulic brake system and a powerful motor that can hit speeds up to 28 MPH.
The Wallke F1 Electric Bike comes with a best-in-class full-color LCD display that relays multiple useful metrics, including distance traveled and energy consumption. This is also an extremely safe electric bike, with mechanical disc brakes and an ultra-durable aluminum alloy frame. The 500-watt turbo motor can also hit speeds up to 22 miles per hour, which is plenty fast for most uses.
Though the saddle is ergonomically shaped and larger than many that ship with comparable models, we found it to be somewhat rigid, but it faded after several hours of use. Additionally, this bike requires a fair bit of assembly, but tools and clearly written instructions are included with the purchase. For long-distance commutes or traveling between cities, read our guide on the best electric cargo bike.
Award: BEST FOLDING
WHY WE LIKE IT: A lightweight design makes it easy to store on the wall or ceiling when not in use. A 21-speed Shimano transmission system and a good set of mechanical disc brakes along the front and rear of the bicycle.

This high-grade electric bike by Ancheer features a lightweight design, meaning it’s light enough to be stored on the ceiling or wall. We loved the 21-speed Shimano transmission system, which makes for smooth rides even over bumpy terrain, and the well-made mechanical disc brakes placed along the front and rear of the bike. This ebike also boasts 26-inch fat tires that are equipped with an anti-slip coating, further helping this bike glide over rough terrain types. The pedals are also of exceptional quality.
Though the 350-watt motor is powerful enough for hills and boasts a 265-pound load capacity, it does max out at 20 miles per hour, so take that into consideration. Additionally, the front-facing lithium battery pack will get you around 22-40 miles per charge, but it is not removable, so the whole bike must be near a power outlet. Award: BEST QUALITY
WHY WE LIKE IT: High-quality ebike with plenty of nifty features, including a 1000w Bafang mid-drive motor, a durable 6061 aluminum frame, and ultra-safe Tektro dual-piston hydraulic brakes.
Read Full Review: Biktrix Juggernaut Classic Review
The Biktrix Juggernaut Ultra FS is of exceptional quality with a high-end feature set that is great for heavy people and heavier riders. We loved the 1000-watt Bafang mid-drive turbo motor, which can go up to 32 miles per hour (though it must be unlocked to do so.) This is also an incredibly durable bicycle, with a 6061 aluminum frame and aluminum, and highly adjustable seat post. The Tektro dual-piston hydraulic brakes are incredibly safe, passing all of our stop tests with ease, and the 330-pound max load capacity was also nice.
Though the Velo plush saddle is not rigid and is rather comfortable, it is on the narrower side, which may not suit all consumers. Additionally, this bike is on the heavier side, at 75 pounds, which could make it somewhat frustrating to carry as you move it to and from storage. Its durability, though, makes it worth your money, just like what you get with the best kids mountain bikes.
Award: BEST THREE-WHEEL DESIGN
WHY WE LIKE IT: Fantastic electric tricycle design with a 400-pound load capacity, a twist throttle with reverse functionality, and the ability to fold into a compact shape for storage or transport.
The Liberty Trike is an electric tricycle that is perfect for heavy riders, thanks to a front-mounted 750-watt motor that can successfully transport up to 400 pounds. There is plenty of cargo space here, making it great for daily errands, and it features an ultra-comfortable padded seat with a backrest. This etrike also boasts a convenient folding design, making it simple to throw in the trunk of a car or in a closet when not in use.
Though the motor does a decent job with inclines and that large maximum load capacity, it does max out at 12 miles per hour, which could be an issue for some. Additionally, the lithium-ion battery can only get around 15 miles of use out of a single charge, though it does complete recharge in just three hours. This is still one of the best bikes on the market.
Award: MOST POWERFUL
WHY WE LIKE IT: Durably designed bike with a good maximum load capacity, including a comfortable gel saddle and dual Bosch batteries for a maximum range of 130 miles.

We also loved the comfortable Selle Royal Sport Gel saddle and the efficient and safe Magura rear and front ABS disc brakes.
This is a high-end electric bicycle, and, as such, you will be paying a lot in order to purchase it from Riese Muller, as it is higher-priced than many of its competitors. Additionally, this is the best electric bike for tall riders, as the largest model can accommodate heights up to 6’9”, but the smallest model only offers support for riders 5’5” and above.
We’re sorry, this product is temporarily out of stock
Award: BEST COMPACT
WHY WE LIKE IT: Compact and lightweight design, 47 lb, that can still accommodate a heavy load, with high cargo capacity and a powerful mid-drive motor that boasts enough torque for excellent acceleration and climbing.
Read Full Review: Ariel Rider Ebike
The Ariel Rider M-500 comes in a compact and lightweight form factor, weighing just 47 pounds, while still boasting an ultra-powerful mid-drive motor that can accommodate heavy riders and heavy loads of cargo. As for cargo hauling, this electric bike comes equipped with a sturdy rear rack and a front-facing basket. We loved the reliable hydraulic disc brakes, which passed all of our stop tests, and the 625Wh battery, which can go up to 75 miles on a single charge.
Though this electric bike does contain an integrated display, we found it to be rather bare-bones, offering only the slimmest of data points. This display can also not be removed while parked, which could make it attractive to would-be thieves. But since it cannot be removed, then the best bike lock might help a bit.
Award: BEST VALUE
WHY WE LIKE IT: Value-friendly bike with an array of high-end features, including an ultra-durable 6061 aluminum frame and 26” fat tires that excel across a wide variety of terrain types.

This Gunai electric bike comes in at a value-conscious price point while offering features in line with higher-priced competitors, such as a truly durable 6061 aluminum frame that can take a licking and 26-inch fat tires that help absorb the shock from traveling over rough terrain. We loved the luminous LED headlight and the backlit display, both of which came in handy during night rides.
Though the removable battery can get you over 30 miles of riding before needing a charge, the included charger does take six or seven hours to complete said charge. Also, the motor is great at acceleration and can handle a heavy load, but only has the capacity to climb at a maximum of 35-degree inclines. Award: BEST ON A BUDGET
WHY WE LIKE IT: Budget-friendly electric bike with plenty of high-end features, including a 21-speed Shimano gear shifter for a smooth ride and an ultra-comfortable padded saddle.
Read Full Review: Cyclamatic CX1 Electric Bike
The Cyclamatic Power Plus CX1 comes in at a budget-friendly price point while offering multiple features in line with higher-priced competitors, such as a 21-speed Shimano gear shifter that makes bumpy terrain and riding up hills easier. We loved the comfortable padded saddle and the reliable front suspension, both of which make this bike excel with long rides. This electric bicycle also arrives nearly assembled, taking just five minutes of some simple tightening to get it roadworthy.
Though the 250-watt motor can handle heavy loads and is decent at acceleration, it does max out at 15 miles per hour, so take that into consideration. Also, there is no twist throttle on this model, relying exclusively on pedal assist via the integrated pedals. Best sure to check out our list of the best ebike for hills.
To help narrow down to the above list, we focused primarily on features that enabled these bikes to be used by heavy riders. To that end, we favored bicycles with powerful motors that were certified with the ability to haul large loads and those that featured ultra-comfortable and ergonomically designed saddles.
Battery range was also of paramount importance, so we tended to choose ebikes that came with long-lasting lithium-ion battery packs that could run for at least 25 miles on a single charge. Some bikes boast double that maximum length, and many of these batteries can easily be removed for charging on the go and theft deterrence.
Safety features were important as well. We chose bikes with reliable braking systems, often including hydraulic or mechanical disc brakes, and those with durable aluminum alloy, 6061 aluminum, or carbon steel frames. We also enjoyed features that make night riding more convenient and enjoyable, such as bright LED headlights and backlit displays.
