The BenQ Zowie S1 has a comfortable design and a sturdy build. With average click latency and adjustable DPI settings, it’s a simple and reliable option. However, non-programmable buttons, a lack of RGB lighting, and a stiff cable limit its versatility.

Overview

First released back in mid-2019, the BenQ Zowie S1 Mouse is a high-end wired gaming model that boasts an ambidextrous shape along with ergonomics suitable for claw grip users. It does have a 6.9 feet long flexible rubber cable for wired USB connectivity, but it does face chances of cable drag, which can only be mitigated by the presence of a paracord cable available on most of the best computer mouse options available today in its range. And unlike many of the most popular gaming mouse models, it is not an RGB gaming mouse.

If you prefer a lower mouse weight but want to go for a similar wired gaming mouse from the same brand, then make sure to take a look at our Zowie FK2 review. Including the 24-step scroll wheel, the S1 features a total of seven mouse buttons (not programmable) and a 3200 DPI optical sensor.

What the brand doesn’t always tell you…

our Verdict

The BenQ Zowie S1 wired mouse features a comfortable design and sturdy build quality. It’s most comfortable with a palm grip style and is well-suited for a wide range of hand sizes. The Zowie S1 offered a 15ms click latency during testing, which is average for wired options. You’ll also get four adjustable DPI settings up to 3200 DPI. The mouse doesn’t include software, so DPI adjustment takes place with a button.

While the Zowie S1 gives you seven different buttons, none of them are programmable, and the scroll cannot be unlocked. The mouse also lacks RGB lighting, and the connection cable is stiff. If you’re looking for a simple, comfortable mouse, the Zowie S1 is a good option. If you’re looking for more versatility, you should consider alternatives.
