Overview

The Anker Soundcore Space A40 is a lower mid-range wireless in-ear model that was first brought to the market in 2022, and it touts active noise canceling out of the box for music lovers commuting in noisy environments.

Just like the highest-ranked headphones in its range, it features LDAC to support high-resolution audio over Bluetooth 5.0. If you don’t want to go for wireless earbuds for the added audio latency, our Cord Cruncher Headphones review is worth a look.

Thanks to Bluetooth 5.0, it also supports multi-device pairing.

Being an in-ear model, these earbuds come with silicon buds of all different sizes. And similar to the best Samsung earbuds, it comes with a dynamic transducer that aims to provide a reasonably flat frequency response slope.

What the brand doesn’t always tell you…

our Verdict

The compact Anker Soundcore Space A40 earbuds offer a warm, well-balanced sound profile that has both vocals and instrumentals clear and well-detailed and great bass accuracy.

They also come with adjustable Active Noise Cancelling, which gives them an edge over many others. The sound quality can be customized through their Anker Soundcore app, which has a graphic equalizer with presets.

Bluetooth connectivity is stellar, with support for multi-device pairing and low tested latency of 74ms and 148ms on iOS or Android devices. The earbuds are also comfortable, as they come with four pairs of ear tips and touch-sensitive controls that are easy to master.

Listening to audio at high volume won’t disturb those around you because of its impressive sound leakage performance, and its 40.5-hour battery life is exceptional.

Despite both featuring similar build quality and a premium design, the Anker Soundcore Space A40 comes with a significantly more effective implementation of active noise canceling compared to the Anker SoundCore Life P3 wireless closed-back earbuds. The Anker Soundcore Space A40 also has a substantially higher battery life of 40.5 hours (8.1 hours continuous) when pitted against the Anker SoundCore Life P3’s 28.5 hours (5.7 hours continuous) of run time. Moreover, despite both models featuring Bluetooth 5.0, only the Space A40 supports multi-device pairing.

The Anker Soundcore Space A40 features a much more neutral and balanced audio profile with a flat and nuanced frequency response slope than the Sony WF-1000XM4 wireless earbuds. The Anker Soundcore Space A40 also sports a slightly better implementation of noise canceling that blocks out more ambient noise than the 1000XM4. However, the Sony WF-1000XM4 has a more stable in-ear fit and a significantly better build quality than the A40, with a longer continuous run time of 10.3 hours.

The Anker Soundcore Space A40 offers much better active noise canceling compared to the Jabra Elite 7 Pro. And the Soundcore Space A40 also delivers a significantly longer battery life (through the case) of 40.5 hours than the Jabra Elite 7 Pro’s 33.6 hours, although both of them reach almost the same run time of about 8.4 hours if they run continuously. However, the Jabra Elite 7 Pro does have a significantly flatter frequency response slope than the Anker Soundcore Space A40 earbuds, with a balanced profile.
