Today, the company issued a firmware update, called Direct Mode that makes the aforementioned devices compatible with their X2 card. Just pop it into your computer, install the update and then pop it back into your camera. Provided you’ve synced the two devices, future photos snapped on your digital camera will automatically be transferred.

Samsung Galaxy Tab™ Available for Purchase at Multiple Retail Stores and Online Outlets

Consumers receive chance to purchase WiFi-only version of Samsung’s award-winning Android™ platform mobile tablet

DALLAS–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Samsung Telecommunications America (Samsung Mobile), the No. 1 mobile phone provider in the U.S.1, announced today that several retail stores and Web sites will carry the WiFi-only Samsung Galaxy Tab™ by April 10, offering customers the opportunity to buy this powerful and compact mobile tablet for $349.99. Consumers can visit http://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/galaxy-tab for a complete list of retail outlets selling the WiFi Galaxy Tab.

“The 7-inch Galaxy Tab is the first truly mobile tablet on the market, allowing users to comfortably hold the device in one hand while typing or navigating the Web with the other.”
The Galaxy Tab is powered by the Android™ 2.2 platform and has a 7-inch TFT display with a 1024 x 600 resolution. The super-light and sleek device weighs just 13 ounces, is 12 millimeters thin and easily fits in a pocket or purse. The Galaxy Tab includes 32 GB of internal storage and offers microSD expansion to allow for up to 32 GB of additional storage.

“We are excited to have the WiFi version of the Galaxy Tab join our growing portfolio of Galaxy-branded devices,” said Dale Sohn, President of Samsung Mobile. “The 7-inch Galaxy Tab is the first truly mobile tablet on the market, allowing users to comfortably hold the device in one hand while typing or navigating the Web with the other.”

Outstanding Entertainment Options

The Galaxy Tab supports Adobe® Flash® Player 10.1 to deliver an enhanced content experience and allow users to engage with thousands of sites with rich Adobe Flash Player compatible applications and content including games, animations, rich Internet applications (RIAs), data presentations and visualizations, ecommerce, video, music and more. Plus, the device is designed with a rear-facing 3 megapixel camera for taking pictures on-the-go, and a front-facing 1.3 megapixel camera and camcorder for video chat.

In addition, the Galaxy Tab includes access to Media Hub, Samsung’s own content service, offering a vast lineup of critically acclaimed films and TV programs for rent or purchase. The biggest and best names in entertainment, including CBS, MTV Networks, NBC Universal, Paramount and Warner Bros. provide new release movies, next day TV episodes and full TV show seasons to the robust Media Hub library. Media Hub also promotes content sharing, including the ability to send purchased films and TV programming to as many as five devices that carry the Media Hub application.

Google Services & Social Hub

Services like Google Maps™ Navigation and Google Goggles are available on Google’s Android platform. With useful location-based services like Google Maps™, consumers can search in Standard English instead of entering an exact address. A search-by-voice function is just as intuitive, meaning searches can also be completed easily on the go. Google Goggles™ is a powerful, visual search tool that uses the Samsung GALAXY Tab’s camera to uncover information – an image of a landmark or artwork is automatically used to perform a search, delivering relevant content like a description or history. In addition, with a camera, users can enjoy various augmented reality services which are downloadable in the application market. Plus, Galaxy Tab users have full access to more than 150,000 applications available for download from the Android Market™.

The Galaxy Tab keep users organized and connected with Samsung’s Social Hub application. Social Hub works with the user’s Messaging and Contacts to initiate the sending and receiving of information, whether it is e-mail, instant messaging, social network updates or SMS messages. Additionally, calendar information from portal calendars, such as Google Calendar, and social networking services are displayed together in one calendar with two-way synchronization.

Samsung Galaxy Product Portfolio

The WiFi Galaxy Tab joins other popular products under the premium Samsung Galaxy brand, including the upcoming Galaxy Tab 10.1, Galaxy 8.9, Galaxy Player 5.0 and Galaxy Player 4.0 and the portfolio of Galaxy S smartphones.

A wind powered router? Sign us up. Sadly that’s not what this is. In fact, it’s Logitec’s (not the US Logitech) LAN-WH450N/GR wireless router. That unsightly windmill like protrusion is a tri antenna design that supposedly helps achieve a throughput of 450Mbs, which is par for the course for an N router. Nonetheless, the wacky antenna design warrants at the very least a look, right? If you’re of the wired type, there is also a set of gigabit Ethernet ports.

You can snag one for about $230.

Living in London has its fair share of problems, the which of least is their underground network of trains and stations. But, as we’ve learned today, the city will soon roll out 120 FREE WiFi hotspots in tube stations throughout city in anticipation of next year’s Olympic games.

Unfortunately, WiFi will not be available in the tunnels, but instead be accessible from platforms and perhaps even those lingering at the entrances of the stations. A trial has already begun at Charing Cross station, organized by British Telecom.

We’ve long hated the idea of delivering an Internet connection over a home electrical circuit, but now it looks like we won’t have to choose one router over the other in the event that a signal won’t reach the most subterranean of areas.

The D-Link DHP-1320 router provides not only WiFi and Ethernet connectivity, but an Internet connection over your home’s electrical sockets. From what we’ve inferred from the press release, the WiFi and Ethernet connections work like any other router and the powerline connectivity is delivered using the routers AC plug. Course, to achieve the latter feature you’ll need to make an investment in D-Link’s line of of PowerLine accessory products.

Other features included WiFi N, 3 10/100 Ethernet ports, WiFi protected setup, built-in QoS Engine Enhances Internet Experience, 128-bit AES Encryption For PowerLine Network Security and their Atheros Hy-Fi™ technology that expands coverage.

The D-Link DHP-1320 router is available now for $129.99.

D-Link® Hybrid Wireless-N PowerLine Router Now Available

200 Mbps Combination Wi-Fi and PowerLine Router, Along with PowerLine Adapters and Switches, Enable Consumers to Work, Play, View, and Share Anywhere in the Home

FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., Mar 02, 2011 – D-Link® today announced its Wireless-N PowerLine Router (DHP-1320), a combination networking solution for extending wired and wireless home networks throughout the house by tapping into a home’s electrical wiring, is now available. This combination IPv6-ready network solution merges PowerLine 200 Mbps technology with a Wireless-N router and Ethernet ports, offering consumers two connectivity options to extend home network coverage and enjoy high-bandwidth applications, including HD video content, multimedia, VoIP calls, and more.

“As the amount of high-bandwidth Internet-based content viewed and shared in today’s homes continues to grow exponentially, superior network coverage is essential,” said Daniel Kelley, associate vice president of consumer marketing, D-Link North America. “With this combination router and D-Link’s line of PowerLine accessory products, we’re able to provide consumers with a simple way to extend their networks into ‘dead zones’ where wireless coverage has previously been limited or spotty, such as a basement, an upstairs bedroom, or other hard to reach locations.”

Wired and Wireless Network Coverage Anywhere in the Home

The DHP-1320 extends wired and wireless networks to all devices in the home with optimal speed and bandwidth for a range of HD video-on-demand, gaming and other applications. Essentially turning a home’s existing electrical system into an Ethernet network, PowerLine’s extended coverage can be obtained without any drilling, difficult installation or messy cables. Simply plug the DHP-1320 into an electrical outlet and the technology distributes broadband to Internet-connected devices both wirelessly and through the electrical wiring in a home. D-Link® PowerLine adapters then plug into outlets anywhere in the home to extend wired coverage to additional rooms and devices where coverage is limited.

The DHP-1320 also provides IPv6 support, enabling consumers to future-proof their home networks for the next-generation of the Internet, ensuring connectivity with new wireless devices for years to come.

Additional features of the Hybrid Wireless-N PowerLine Router (DHP-1320) include:

HomePlug AV certified with up to 200Mbps throughput
Wireless N 300
3-Port 10/100Mbps Fast Ethernet Ports
Wi-Fi® Protected Setup™ (WPS) for Simple Push-Button Wireless Network Configuration
Atheros Hy-Fi™ technology expands coverage, improves performance and simplifies network set up and management
Built-in QoS Engine Enhances Internet Experience
Supports Secure Wireless Encryption Using WPA™ or WPA2™
Supports 128-bit AES Encryption For PowerLine Network Security
PowerLine Sync Connection (ENY) Button
Plug & Play Installation

Also shipping are a number of 200 Mbps PowerLine accessory products, including the PowerLine AV 4-Port Switch, Wireless N Extender, and Network Starter Kit. Combining these products with the DHP-1320 allows consumers to create the ultimate wired and wireless home network.

Availability and Pricing

The DHP-1320 Hybrid Wireless-N PowerLine Router is now available throughout D-Link’s vast network of retail and e-tail outlets in North America, and at the company’s online store, http://www.dlinkshop.com, with an MSRP of $129.99.

The following 200 Mbps PowerLine products are also now available:

PowerLine AV 4-Port Switch (DHP-346AV); $99.99
PowerLine AV Wireless N Extender (DHP-W306AV); $119.99
PowerLine AV Network Starter Kit (DHP-307AV); $139.99

Update: HP just announced the HP Touchpad, the would be iPad killer.

These may look like photos of a delicious tablet, but they’re only renders. HP and Palm got together to build the Topaz webOS tablet, and someone working for them was kind enough to leak these images for the rest of the world. It’s just the way things work.

Topaz is the 9-inch model, while a smaller, 7-inch tablet was baptized Opal. They’re both adhering to a push for a no-button design, they have a front-facing camera, micro-USB port (I hate these) and a three-speaker layout that’s reminiscent of the Vizio tablet. Two speakers on the left side and one on the right, giving stereo audio in both landscape and portrait mode.

Both tablets should start shipping somewhere around September, with versions for WiFi only, 3G from AT&T, and Verizon LTE.

Archos comes steaming out of the gate at CES with two new portable media players powered by Android and by the well-known Archos policy of pricing things as low as manufacturing will allow. Models 28 and 32 have, surprisingly, 2.8 and 3.2 inch screens, and come with the over-reaching ‘internet tablet’ moniker.

Pretty small for a tablet, don’t you think so, Archos? That’s not to say that these little players, with their WiFi capability and Android platform aren’t extremely nice for the $100 and $150 price.

They both come with 8GB of storage, which will hold a bit of songs while you chat and play and Facebook your life away, and all the other things you can do with a mini-micro-tablet. And the Music Cover Carrousel app churns through album covers like a fat kid through McDonalds hamburgers, especially since it lets you add widgets to the home screen for faster access to your choice of musical poison.

Build in accelerometer and Open GL 3D technology brings these babies up to speed with whatever games can be player on smartphone-sized tablets.

Archos doesn’t like shooting single bullets, so their launch of Android devices couldn’t include just small media players. An Android tablet seemed very much called for, and that’s what the $350 7-inch Archos 70 Internet Tablet is. With 8GB of flash memory, a 250GB hard-drive and an 800 x 480 capacitive multitouch screen, it’s no revolution in the land of tablets, but Archos is taking a step in the right direction by mostly letting go of proprietary ports and connectors, and the Android Marketplace, making this a platform more open towards whatever configuration you have in mind for it.

Running Android 2.2 on a 1GHz ARM Cortez A8 processor, it gets graphics acceleration through an OpenGL ES 2.0 card, and remains slim enough to measure in at 0.43 inches thin and weigh in at 11oz. The front-facing VGA camera doesn’t add much weight, and connectivity happens through 802.11 b/g/n WiFi and, of course, Bluetooth.

Just when we thought digital cameras couldn’t get much better, Samsung goes and announces the SH100. Beyond the normal point and shoot, this digital camera boasts built-in WiFi allowing you to instantly beam your photos to a compatible DLNA TV and WiFi enabled computer for instant delivery to Facebook and other social network sites. But that’s hardly the coolest feature. The SH100 can connect with Samsung Galaxy S smartphones, which can remotely activate the shutter, embed a geotag as well as instantly review the photo captured.

Samsung says the SH100 comes with its own Boingo wireless hotspot account allowing you to upload images at over 200,000 locations. It’s not clear if you’ll need a separate subscription to access these hotspots.

Other features include a 3-inch touchscreen LCD, 14.2 megapixel sensor, facial recognition, 5x optical zoom and 720p movie mode.

The Samsung SH100 will be available this March for $199.99.

CES, Las Vegas – January 4, 2011 – Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd, a global leader in digital media and digital convergence technologies, announced today the launch of the new SH100, a compact Wi-Fi enabled camera that delivers great shots that you can share over the internet and social networks with your friends and family, from wherever you are in the world. The SH100 is set to be Samsung’s leading fully connected camera in 2011, building on the success of the company’s wirelessly connected cameras to date and allowing Samsung to take a dominant position within this growing market.

Samsung’s pioneering steps within the connected camera market can be seen in the SH100’s unique innovation, which allows you to connect wirelessly to your other devices with ease. You can use Wi-Fi to connect to your Android® powered Galaxy S™ smartphone, so you can view the shot you’re about to take in real time on your phone. If you’re not happy with it, you can zoom in and out to get the best picture, and then activate the shutter remotely when you’re ready to pose. This innovation means that the days of running between your camera and your subject, trying to line up the perfect group shot, are over. Users now have total control of their camera in the palm of their hand, from wherever they are in the shot. Users can even use their phone’s GPS to record exactly where they were when they captured their favorite memories.

The SH100’s built in Wi-Fi can also automatically back up your shots to your PC by only pushing two buttons, or by using DLNA to wirelessly connect to your HDTV and see your photos and videos right away. Wi-Fi enables you to upload your pictures instantly to your social networking sites such as Facebook, Picasa or Photo Bucket, or email them to individual email addresses straight from the camera. The people you care about can now enjoy your experience from wherever they are. You can also record HD video and share your favorite moments over sites such as YouTube™. To make the upload process of large files easier and quicker, the SH100 includes an account with mobile hotspot provider Boingo™, giving you access to over 200,000 Wi-Fi hotspots worldwide.

The SH100 is the latest example of Samsung’s user-focused innovation and design. The company has always carefully researched its target audience, and in 2011, Samsung is applying this research to create unique products for a younger, more digitally connected generation of camera users. The company is also leveraging its strength in other product areas, such as mobile phones, to make emerging camera technologies, such as Wi-Fi, accessible to all camera buyers, even those on smaller budgets.

“At Samsung, we are always striving to innovate and you can see this in every product we release,” said Mr. Hyunho Chung, Executive Vice President and Head of the Digital Imaging Business, Samsung Electronics. “From our in-depth consumer research, we know that younger users have different needs from their digital camera. They don’t want to wait until they get home to share their favorite moments with their friends, they want to be able to do this instantly from wherever they are. The SH100 gives young people the chance to bring their world closer, by drawing on Samsung’s technological strength to deliver total connectivity in a compact camera, at an accessible price. Through the SH100, we hope to provide the best product for people looking for ultimate connectivity from their camera, and strengthen Samsung’s leadership in the compact camera category.”

Experience the Convenience
The SH100 uses built in Wi-Fi capability to deliver unique new experiences for all camera users. By selecting the PC Auto Back-up function, your camera will automatically find your PC and download the latest photos onto it, even if the PC is turned off. This feature is compatible with the Wake-on-LAN (WoL) system which many modern home PCs are already equipped with.

Innovation in Control Helps you Capture the Moment
The Wi-Fi capability on the SH100 also allows you to use your smartphone as a remote control and viewing device for your camera. If you’re shooting over a crowd at a concert, you can enable the Remote Viewfinder function, meaning that you can hold your camera high over your head while you see a preview of the picture in real time on your phone screen. It’s also ideal for taking self shots as you can zoom in and out using the 5x optical zoom, and access basic menu functions including parameters and shooting modes. When you’re happy with the shot, you can operate the shutter remotely too, and the camera will record the GPS information for photo geo-tagging.

Seamlessly Simple
Samsung has also used its strength in the smartphone market to develop a new Smart Access user interface (UI) for all of its new compact cameras. The touch based UI works in the same quick, intuitive way as many smartphones. Advanced functions, such as sharing content wirelessly, can be done simply by a few touches of the buttons on the large, clear 3” LCD screen. The Smart Access UI enables users to drag, click and control ‘app-style’ icons, easily flip through photos, and control a range of the camera’s features.

The Heart of your Digital Home
The SH100 features Samsung AllShare, which uses DLNA technology to allow you to connect to your HDTV and stream content wirelessly. For instance, when you get home from a concert, you can now watch the videos of your favorite songs instantly on your TV.

A printer with a tablet built into it. A removable 7″ tablet running Android with the Android Marketplace. It’s the stuff that dreams are made of.

HP’s Photosmart eStation is probably the most perfect design for a printer ever. Not because it prints well, or because the hardware is intrinsically different from other printers. It’s made for the modern family, with functionality spanning far and above the call of a simple printer/fax/scanner/copier. This printer can surf the web, play games, read news and watch movies. And it’s all completely wireless. Because it’s completely wireless, there’s nowhere to plug in a fax modem…so all buyers get free online faxing…though after reading the fine print, it’s only 20 faxes inbound and outbound (40 total, but separately) before users have to pay for an online fax service.

Take it on a trip if you like…but don’t expect to print direct. You’ll still need to email the documents to print directly to he printer.

The eStation is built wonderfully, and with an Android Tablet built in and removable (with 4-6 hours of battery life under heavy use, according to one HP spokesperson), the price is expected to be astronomical. Samsung’s Galaxy Tablet is going for, at it’s cheapest on T-Mobile and Sprint, $400 with a 2-year contract. The eStation is the exact same price, $399 with a tablet.

And considering that the printer is no lightweight either with 32 pages per minute in color, scanning up to 1200×2400, Wi-Fi (only, no Ethernet port but USB printing is possible) b/g/n and copies up to 1200dpi. That, and from the same Wi-Fi network anyone can print directly from the tablet, which acts as a pseudo-remote/tablet. Print up webpages directly from the tablet, control how the printer operates from your living room, whatever you want. Simply, it’s genius. I can’t wait to see how it pans out.

The HP Photosmart eStation is available now, with an online deal of $350.

With a new version of its home theater system remote, Bang & Olufsen beings wireless control to its living room entertainment system. The Beo6 replaces the Beo5 and looks good doing it.

A glass display with touch interface provides for the more complex aspects of the interaction, and it’s connected to an aluminum ball sporting the more classical buttons you’d expect on a remote control, although with the touch-screen-connected-to-a-sphere design, this is more reminiscent of Star-Trek than anything that controls a television.

TV menus and station logos will be displayed on the touchscreen, and programmable macros give meta-control over your living room environment, from dimming the lights to switching media sources.

No prices and shipping dates are available, and I say prices because the Beo6 will come in either aluminum or gold, both with black accents.
