Dropcam bills their products as small, easy to setup and affordable wireless home monitoring systems.  Their latest offering is the Dropcam Echo.  It’s a essentially a wireless webcam that connects to your home’s router over WiFi – it just needs to be plugged in.  They’ve produced an iPhone app as well as a web interface that allows you to access the video feed complete with sound from any where you’ve got an Internet connection.  For a small monthly fee you can record up to 1 month of footage to Dropcam’s cloud storage service, or set the camera to detect motion and ‘push’ an alert to your iPhone or send an email containing a snap shot and playable footage.

Can’t wait to monitor the baby sitter?  Good, because the Dropcam Echo is available now for $279 with additional features rolling out this summer.

Logitech debuted some new HD webcams today, one of which does 1080p video. Using Logitech’s Vid software (as opposed to something like Skype), the calls are apparently the highest quality you can get on the net, provided you have a supported camera, a Windows PC (no Macs for now), and a fast internet connection.

The most interesting is the HD Pro C910, which does 720p video conferencing and 1080p local recording with a 10MP still mode, and has dual-mics for noise cancellation. The C510 does 720p video calls, 8MP photos, and has a 360 rotation feature (I suppose putting this on the middle of a table and having it rotate around would be good for group conferences). The C310 and the C270 both do 720p, and are for the budget conscious.

The C910 is available in August for $100, while the C510, C310, and C270 hit in July for $60, $50, and $40, respectively.
