Update: Checkout our Samsung Galaxy Tablet review.

What do we have here? Yup, it’s another tablet. This time it’s from the fine folks at Samsung. This 7-incher, called the Galaxy Tab, is running Android but is skinned with their Touchwiz UI. The specs are nonexistent at this point, but rumors say that the screen is of the AMOLED flavor and there will be some sort of app store, though the latter sounds like a stretch since the Android store is well under way.

Looks like the official pic has been taken down. Can someone say “whoops”.

Apple has just announced that they’ve sold two million iPads in less than sixty days since its April 3rd US debut. They probably brought themselves over the mark with last week’s international launch, which included countries France, Italy, and Japan.

The iPad will be available in nine more countries this July, with more to follow later this year. Steve Jobs was quoted saying that “we appreciate their patience, and are working hard to build enough iPads for everyone.” Just don’t work those Foxconn employees too hard, Steve. We all know what happens when you do.

Apple Sells Two Million iPads in Less Than 60 Days

CUPERTINO, California-May 31, 2010-Apple® today announced that iPad™ sales have topped two million in less than 60 days since its launch on April 3. Apple began shipping iPad in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain, Switzerland and the UK this past weekend. iPad will be available in nine more countries in July and additional countries later this year.

“Customers around the world are experiencing the magic of iPad, and seem to be loving it as much as we do,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO. “We appreciate their patience, and are working hard to build enough iPads for everyone.”

iPad allows users to connect with their apps, content and the Internet in a more intimate, intuitive and fun way than ever before. Users can browse the web, read and send email, enjoy and share photos, watch HD videos, listen to music, play games, read ebooks and much more, all using iPad’s revolutionary Multi-Touch™ user interface. iPad is 0.5 inches thin and weighs just 1.5 pounds-thinner and lighter than any laptop or netbook-and delivers up to 10 hours of battery life.*

Developers have created over 5,000 exciting new apps for iPad that take advantage of its Multi-Touch user interface, large screen and high-quality graphics. iPad will run almost all of the more than 200,000 apps on the App Store, including apps already purchased for your iPhone® or iPod touch®.

*Battery life depends on device settings, usage and other factors. Actual results vary.

Apple ignited the personal computer revolution with the Apple II, then reinvented the personal computer with the Macintosh. Apple continues to lead the industry with its award-winning computers, OS X operating system, and iLife, iWork and professional applications. Apple leads the digital music revolution with its iPods and iTunes online store, has reinvented the mobile phone with its revolutionary iPhone and App Store, and has recently introduced its magical iPad which is defining the future of mobile media and computing devices.

ASUS announced an onslaught of new products at the Computex show, and their Eee Pad tablet is one of the most exciting. Coming in ten and twelve screen sizes, the Eee Pad runs on Windows 7 and features support for stylus handwriting on its touchscreen. There will be a frontfacing webcam for video conferencing, as well as an iPad-esque wireless keyboard docking station.

ASUS also says that, due to its Intel Core 2 Duo CULV chip, the device can get up to ten hours battery life, an impressive feat — especially with rival HP raising concerns for their Slate tablet over battery life when it comes to Windows 7 as an OS. We’ll let you know more as soon as full specs, pricing, and availability become available.

At this point its anyone’s guess to when and if the ‘iPad’ or ‘iTouch‘ computer will ever hit the market. Okay, it’s probably not a question of ‘if’, but ‘when’. Now iLounge says they’ve got the scoop on the touch screen computer from an insider that “correctly called the iPod nano 5G, iPhone 3GS and Chinese iPhone 3G months ago.”.

Apparently a 7-inch version was in the works, but that was scrapped in favor of a 10-inch version. As previous rumors have stated, the iPad will run the iPhone OS, or a variation there of and include a similar form factor (hence the pic above). Despite many rumors denouncing 3G connectivity, iLounge’s source says they’ll be two versions: one with and one without, analogous to the iPhone and iPod Touch. As expected the screen’s resolution will be much higher than the iPhone and will enable users to read magazines and books in addition to full blown web pages.

Drum roll please….apparently Curpentino will announce the tablet like computer on or before January 19th of next year and will start shipping in May or June of that year. Typically the summer months are the lull for the consumer and tech industry, but this might align them for back to school, although I can’t imagine this is a device parents and grad student would spring for. So as for launch date I’m gonna say they’ve got it wrong. Either Apple needs to announce their next wonder device in a few weeks time or wait until summer of next year and launch it for the 2010 holidays.

A bit more news has surfaced about Michael Arrington’s Crunchpad computer by way of the The Straits Times, who claims that they’ve got a sneak preview of the tablet like computer.

We already knew about the 4GB of storage and WiFi, but they’re reporting that it will weigh 2.64lbs, have a 1.6Ghz Intel Atom processor, a USB port and possibly built-in 3G connectivity. And that $300 price, it’s said to now be $400. Launch date is expected in November, which might prove fatal since it’s a few months after the rumored launch date of Apple’s answer to the tablet laptop.

Still, though, Arrington hasn’t made any noise about the Crunchpad since that whole unboxing debacle, so I’d suggest taking this news with a grain of salt.

Why you’d buy this let alone use it is anyone’s guess, but the Brando SISO Tablo for Laptop turns any ordinary Vista or XP laptop into a tablet…sort of. The device hangs over the bevel of your laptop’s screen, uses TABLO annotator software and my best guess is that it detects and records the position of the pen. What’s kind of neat is that the stylus also doubles as a regular pen. So when you’re taking ordinary written notes on paper and have the sensor clipped to the top it magically transfers them to your computer.

Ok, so it’s actually kind of cool and for just $99 why the hell not?
