Much like the video depicts you’ve probably scoured your kitchen and your house to open a cold brewski only to turn up empty handed.  Usually you’d resort to slamming the bottle down on a kitchen corner resulting in a broken counter top or worse yet, a broken bottle.  Stop.  For a small investment of $20 you can wear this awesomely cool BeerBot Bottle Open shirt and never had to search for a bottle opener again.  That’s right, the robot on shirt is outfitted with a bottle opener.  You might wanna hit the gym before considering this apparel, otherwise the metal bottle opener might rip a hole in your chest from the angled forced applied.  The same precautions apply to any contact sport or ‘bro’ chest slamming.

Another week, another example of electronics on clothes. This time it’s a shirt designed to make sure baseball pitchers don’t become fatigued, thanks to meticulous data analysis on whomever’s wearing it.

Created by three engineering students at Northwestern University, the system involves an array of sensors and conductive thread on a standard Under Armor shirt. The shirt is connected to a PC that senses every time a pitch is thrown, so a coach may have a better idea when a player should be taken out of the game. The system could have plenty of other uses, though, for reducing back pain with athletes of all types. We’ll just have to wait and see.

Continuing in the long line of clothes with electronics stuck on them comes this cool e-mail experiment. The t-shirt lights up when a new e-mail arrives, also displaying the amount  in your inbox. The device consists of a an Arduino Lilypad micrcontroller, conductive thread, LEDs, and a Bluetooth dongle that communicates with an Android-running smartphone. Geeky resourcefulness factor? High. Chance someone will actually wear this outside? TBD.
