Sanyo has debuted a world’s first with their Xacti DMX-CA100 (no relation to the rapper), the world’s first waterproof HD camera. The device features a waterproof rating of IPX8, which allows it to be used for 60 minutes underwater at a depth of 3 meters.

The DMX-CA100 features full 1080p video recording, 14MP still images, 2X digital zoom, and the ability to shoot high speed at 7 frames per second for up to 22 seconds. Finally, it will come in three colors: black, pink, and yellow. Now to go film some sharks.

Not Toyota, not Ford.  In fact not even a large auto maker has broken the world record for the longest distance traveled on a single charge in an electric car.  Japan Electric Vehicle Club, a team of EV enthusiast modded a Daihatsu Mira with over 8300 Sanyo batteries and achieved 623.76 miles on one charge.  The previous record was set in November of 2009, when they drove 345 miles.

Of course, the condition were, shall we say very controlled.  They achieved the feat on a training school track and drove 25mph for 27.5 hours.

Too bad I’ll probably never ride Sanyo’s Eneloop Bike, but that can probably be said for the majority.  In any event, the company felt it necessary to update the recently announced bicycle.  Now, instead of just capturing power during acceleration and downhill glides, the Eneloop bike will ‘sip’, as in slightly nurse, energy while riders bike on the flats to charge its on board battery system.

Ultimately, this should mean more power for those moments when you need some added momemntum from the electric drivetrain, which is when and only when the on board motor system will kick in (think hill).  Sanyo says the system is self adapting to the riders output and shouldn’t impact or increase the pedal resistance.

The new Sanyo Eneloop bikes (CY-SPL226 and CY-SPL224) will launch in Japan only on April 21st for 157,290 yen.
