SanDisk has taken another stab at the MP3 player market and updated their Sansa line with the Sansa Fuse+.

They’re avoiding all things touchscreen (we’re guessing partially to do with the cost issue) and instead have opted for a touch sensitive directional pad that is said to be equitable in terms of control without infringing on the view of the screen.  There is also FM radio, a microSD card slot for endless expansion, compatibility with music and video, a 24 hour battery on music (5 hrs on video), and a variety of colors (red, white, black, blue and purple) to choose from.

SSD drives were cool to begin with, but SanDisk’s new 64GB SSD is pretty darn small too — the size of a postage stamp, actually. Just like CDs and DVDs, using re-recordable media makes the lifespan of your data decrease significantly. You might even see the results of this now if you try to play a CD-R you burned in 2000 or so. So, if there are documents, photos, or anything else  you want to last a while, I recommend he SanDisk SD Worm. This 1GB memory card lets you put data on it once, but that data is expected to last 100 years without degradation. Holy underwhelming Batman.  Remember the “something big” story that emerged over the weekend?  It wasn’t nearly as grandiose as they led me to believe.  Today, which is one day earlier than expected, the memory supplier announced the availability of their class 2 32GB microSDHC card.  Whoptee do.  If you’re so inclined you can buy it tomorrow for $199.99.  Or you can buy two 16GB microSDHC cards for about $70.  Hmmmm, hard decision…not.

So SanDisk is set to release “something big” on March 23rd.  What is it?  Your guess is good as ours.  But if I had to wager a bet, I’d put my money on a wireless thumb drive, such as the AirStash.  After all, iPhone accessories are all the rage and with over 45 million on the market, it’s seems like a logical product, especially seeing as SanDisk memory cards are useless on the iPhone.
