Griffin’s HELO TC iPhone Remote controlled helicopter was almost the complete package, until we discovered that the flying toy communicated via infrared. That means you need line of sight to the device if you want to maintain control. Not really a practical solution for something that can hover above the Earth’s surface. That’s why we’re gonna differ you to Dexim’s AppSpeed Monster Truck.

Instead of utilizing infrared communication this RC vehicle depends on a small custom built RF transmitter that plugs into the iPhone’s 30-pin dock. An accompanying (free) app allows you to administer controls using the touchscreen, or if you’re of the daring type you can try your hand at the gravity sensor mode. To accelerate and break you just tilt the handset back and forth and to change direction to the left or the right. It even includes 3 preset stations which allow you to “ZigZag, Spin or Dance your vehicle to music.” And for those of you looking to race your friends, it would seem that you can set the frequency to which you transmit so you can race friends, but how many we don’t know.

The Dexim AppSpeed Monster Truck sells for $69. There is also a car version.

The Martin Jetpack is probably still 6-12 months away from production, so if you can’t wait until then, and need to experience, or at least trick your friends into thinking you’re a real life Ironman, check out the RcSuperhero.

They come in two sizes, 75-inch and 57-inch. The larger of the two sports 6 pounds of thrust and can take off from a standing vertical position, just like the comic book hero. It takes some skill to fly it, so the manufacturer recommends that you practice on a simulator or another RC aircraft.

So how does it fly? Well, aside from the built-in engine, the RcSuperhero weighs just 3lbs and has an “arm span”, or wingspan of 45 inches. So the low weight to surface area gives it plenty of lift.

Cost? Super low. Just $19.95 for the larger version and $11.95 for the smaller. We’re not sure if this includes the propollision system and if you want the LED effects to mimic the Ironman’s suit (as seen in the video below), you’ll need to buy and add those yourself.

Just strap the headset on, and issue up to five pre-loaded commands like “raise”, “lower” “turn on” and “hover.” It turns left and right, and knows to head forward on its own and when it’s about to hit the ceiling. There’s LED lights on it, too, for seeing in at night. Thankfully, if you get tired of shouting commands, there’s a regular handset too. You can grab it now for about $62.

If you own an RC car, boat, submarine or helicopter than you’re probably a self pronounced geek. And don’t get me wrong, I’m not trying to knock it. Geek the f*ck out because there are some bad ass remote controlled vehicles out there. But I have yet to see anything that can eclipse this boat and submarine setup. Two camera angles captured the action (above and below water), which involves the battle ship dropping very small depth charges onto the submarine just below. And before you move on to your next blog or post, checkout the video. Those depth charges are real working explosives.

A seemingly DIY project gone way of the assembly line, the Beverage Buddy, while certainly not putting the rage in beverage, will still be fun to futz around around with. From delivering oil in the porn set to a packed bowl of weed to a stoner across the way, it’s clear that this thing is for more than just beers. I’d put talls up in there!

Considering this thing won’t actually get beers from your fridge or cooler, I’m not so sure just how useful it is. Is this cool, or should it have been filed under crap gadget?

Battery operated, the Buggy is on sale now for $50 at Amazon.

Got twenty bucks? Easily entertained? Then what I’ve got for you will quite literally blow your mind wide open.

It’s called the HoverDrone, and it’s a little toy hovercraft that actually hovers.

It’s not that much bigger around than a silver dollar, and it floats by generating its own cushion with a small fan on its undercarriage. It also blinks a little blue LED. But where this is interesting is not that it’s a tiny flight-capable toy, but rather that it’s the SMALLEST remote controlled flying device ever made.

No, really–it’s just over sixty millimeters in diameter, and it flies. You can even control the height of the flight by remote, even if the remote is basically “up” and “down”. And the best part is, you can have one of these for just about twenty bucks. Even if you’re not that interested in flying a little blue toy with an LED light that blinks, well, it’s almost worth it just to have that piece of toy history in your hands.

As a kid I could only dream of a GI-Joe toy that ejected a remote controlled helicopter. Now that dream has become reality thanks to the Silverlit Heli Mission SWAT Truck. Contained in the rear of the RC truck is an RC helicopter. Using the same remote, you can stop the truck dead in its tracks, flip a switch that opens its rear compartment and raises a motorized platform for ‘copter for take off. Two toys in on? Remote controlled helicopter? Yeah, I’m sold. It’s currently sold out, but expect to drop about $100 (£59.95).

When I was a kid I owned an RC hovercraft. It worked for all of 2 days and then its rubber housing broke. Well, here’s my opportunity to revisit some childhood memories, or lack there of. This tiny RC hovercraft is just 4.1 inches in length, can be driven forward, left and right and is available in red, black, orange and blue. No word on whether or not it will glide over water, though.

You can pick one up here for $34
