Coming soon to an OK GO! video near you, this Briefcase Turntable from Think Geek has got to be the smallest USB vinyl converter we’ve seen yet. Priced at only $70, the turntable has a set of built in speakers and the actual briefcase is wrapped in vinyl. It uses a belt driven turntable mechanism that plays records at 3 RPM’s (33 1/3, 45, 78) as well as 3 sizes (7″, 10″ & 12″).

The briefcase also includes Audacity Software Suite for recording and editing audio content, making this a great sounding product for the price. Whipping this thing out from a trenchcoat will surely turn some heads at your next party appearance.

Last I checked Carhartt was in the tough man clothing business. But it turns out they’re getting trendy, really trendy. They’ve now teamed up with Vestax to produce a portable turntable, you know, the thing that plays those vinyl discs.

They claim that it can operate at a 90 degree angle, which means flush to a wall…I’m skeptical. Skepticism aside, it’s got a line in and out jack as well as a USB input for converting your records to a digital medium. And for all your DJs out there you’ll be pleased to hear that it can run on batteries and includes pitch control and master level fader.

I’ve got no clue where you can buy it, but it will supposedly be out this December.

Doesn’t it seem like this product should have arrived a long time ago? While people swear by the fidelity of vinyl , they can’t deny the portability of MP3. The Denon DP-200USB Record Player MP3 Encoder has a handy USB input on the front of the player for easy jamming of USB sticks. The encoder will detect gaps and separate tracks, as well getting track names from GraceNote. Sounds sweet. Operation is simple as you press record and the DP-200USB starts encoding as soon as the music starts playing. This could be really cool to have around since you can go to Goodwill and get a bunch of records for mad cheap. For Denon quality $250 doesn’t sound all that bad right?
