If you have the spare time and you want to catapult your table tennis game miles ahead of anything your friends have seen, this ping pong robot going by the name of Table Tennis Trainer will shoot countless balls your way right in the comfort of your own home.

Choose from three spin settings – the Underspin makes the bottom of the ball rotate in the direction opposite to the player, and trains your chopping stroke; Topspin is the opposite, turning the top of the ball away from you, and there’s also Heavy Topspin, a very fast rotation that requires a controlled downward stroke.

The Table Tennis Trainer loads 110 balls and delivers them at an adjustable speed of 12 to 70 per minute. If you have a pet, train it to refill this gadget, and you’re all set for non stop pong training.

Yes, it’s a ping pong table, but it’s not just any ping pong table. Designed by aruliden for PUMA, it has a shelf for storing balls, paddles and other trinkets as well as a chalk board finish letting you draw or write whatever comes to mind. And that net looks like it could be acosted by any number of tweens and still keep on ticking.

Well, that’s it, folks. Happy Thanksgiving. We’re all doomed.

The machines have risen.

And they want…to beat us stupid in ping pong.

In case you’re wondering, this isn’t from Japan. This was developed by a Vietnamese robotics firm, but it’s an image of the future that is so utterly bizarre as to make you wonder if this is some kind of leftover April Fool’s stunt. All the same, today I bring you the TOPIO ping pong robot.

Yes, it looks vaguely Schwartzeneggerian (is that even a word? Well, hey, I’m a writer. We make up jargon from time to time): it’s big, it’s downright ripped (robots should NOT have abs of steel), it’s wearing what looks like sunglasses and it plays ping pong.

In development since 2005, it recognizes very fast moving objects, has a low inertia mechanical system, and even has an artificial intelligence. But man, it really does look like it’s going to kill somebody, doesn’t it?

The Ping Pong Door has yet to go on sale but I can guarantee a pre-order from just about every college fraternity. I don’t think too much explanation is needed but as you can see the ping pong table swivels out on an x-axis. It’s not practical for an actual ping pong game since the area around the table is limited, but it would surely make for a great Beer Pong table.
