Both are on the pricey side, selling for $90 and $125 respectively. But you should know that each are hand crafted. The first is carved from a single piece of aluminum by industrial artisans in Mexico, while the latter is hand cast and made in Rhode Island. Both can be found at Uncommon Goods.

The person that said that the pen was mightier than the sword, obviously didn’t know about the Fisher Space Pen. It’s made from a real deal .375 caliber bullet and probably isn’t best for those of you that do a fair bit of airplane travel.

If you’re wondering how it works, the bullet portion, not the casing that would contain the gun powder, unscrews from the casing to reveal the ball point pen. After being unscrewed it can be reinserted into the casing to make for a longer pen, ideal for those with larger hands.

You can pick one up for $25.

Push pens can drive anyone bananas. An endless array of “click, click, click” from your anxious riddled cubicle neighbor can drive anyone bat s&!# crazy.

Turtle Pens have removed the easily accessible, and traditional push mechanism and have replaced it with casing that snaps back. Imagine it to be the equivalent of pulling tension on a bow and arrow.

They’re available in white, black, orange or green and sell for about $50+. Included is a metal carrying case.

Ever lend someone a pen only to have them walk off with it? No more, thanks to these witty pans that feature a variety of deterring statements, such as “Springfield Sexual Addiction Center” and “Howie’s House of Hair”. Yeah, that should be enough to deter even the most clepto of folks.

But then again, such bold statements made on a pen might make for a great party favor, so probably safe to assume these would get stolen with intent as opposed to mistake.

We didn’t find them on sale online, but if you do let us know.

You can grab it for $16.

Sharpie has created the most exciting news in pens and pencils since, well, ever, with today’s announcement of the Sharpie Liquid Pencil. This “non-erasable pencil” contains a special ink made from liquid graphite and lays it down just like a pen. For three days, you can erase the writing (and it won’t destroy the paper like old erasable pens), and after that the ink will solidify and become permanent. The Sharpie Liquid Pencil hits stores this September for $5.

As the saying goes, ‘the pen is mightier than the sword’. The Uzi Tactical Pen looks like your everyday, garden variety writing utensil, right? Wrong. The crown of the pen is ultra sharp and can be jammed into an assailant’s body part to not only ward off an attack, but collect their DNA. Or perhaps you’re more fearful that you’ll get stuck inside a car that has taken a plunge off a bridge? No problem, the Uzi Tactical Pen can also be used as a glass breaker. It’s crafted of high-grade aircraft aluminum and if all the aforementioned features aren’t enough, perhaps the ability to write upside down and underwater will have you sold?

I’m really not hip to concepts, but the Color Picker truly tickles my fancy. Just place the pen like device up to any object to scan its color and then blamo, the pen now draws in the same shade. According to its designer, the Color Picker mixes the required color on the fly via a super advanced and tiny RGB cartridge. Remember, it’s conceptual, but that don’t mean it ain’t cool.

And you thought pocket protectors were geeky. In fact, the WiFi Detecting Ball Point is the perfect compliment to any gadget geeks lust for gear. Hit a button and the pen’s LED will light up if there is a WiFi hotspot in proximity. The greater the signal strength the more LED lights displayed; up to 4. Works with WiFi b/g only and won’t indicate if the network is locked, but it’s only $14.
