LED + Surfboard? That’s a formula that is guaranteed to result in 1000s of video views. 117k views in the last week truth be told.

Argentine professional surfer Aritz Aranburu hit the waters and tore up the waves with this LED surfboard built by Puka Surf Co. We tried to find some deets on the glowing water vessel (found another video on YouTube amongst many), but their site seems to be pretty devoid of details, let alone actual pages (we got a 404). Nonetheless, the video is pretty damn cool so check it when the boss ain’t floating around your cubicle.

The James Bond movies have had their fair share of gadgets. That goes without saying, clearly. Unfortunately, most of those gadgets will never come to life, since they’re either completely ludicrous or just don’t have the necessary funding to become a reality. That is unless of course you’re Sir Richard Branson, who has more money than God himself.

Sir Richard Branson’s luxury catamaran Necker Belle, which is supposedly one of the fastest that has touched the ocean’s surface, sails the high sea with the Necker Nymph, a 3-person “aero submarine.”. If you saw “The Spy Who Loved Me,” than nostalgia is probably bubbling up inside you like a giddy kid on Christmas morning.

It can dive 30 meters below the water’s surface and travels at a speed of up to 6 knots. Unfortunately, your dream of piloting a craft of this type will have wait, since they don’t currently allow guests to take the wheel. You’ll of course need to know how to SCUBA, since the cockpit, and passenger seats are open water.

The dives, which last for 1-2 hours at time, start at $2,500 per day. So hopefully, you can travel to a variety of locations and experience multiple dives throughout the day, provided of course you’ve got enough oxygen to go around.

I’m not sure I’d be willing to call it a ‘powerhouse’, but Virgin America has begun selling the Helio Ocean 2, and make that claim. Is anyone actually still on the Helio (now Virgina America) network? Better yet, is anyone (who reads GadgetReview) gonna actually buy this phone let alone sign up for a service that just went bankrupt?

The Helio Ocean 2 can be yours for $150 after a 2-year contract.

Ha! You thought the ‘wave’ and ‘floating’ were tech speak. Wrong! Although the patent was filed back in February of this year, it was just recently spotted by a Slashdotter. So what is it? A data center that’s powered and cooled by the ‘motion of the ocean’ and resides 7 miles from the coast. In some case, wind turbines could be added for extra energy. Another company, IDS, plans to launch a similar project, although there idea calls for using ‘discarded cargo ships’.
